Fog Light Halogen to LED Swap
I'm thinking of replacing the low watt halogen bulbs on my stock fog lights with the aftermarket LED type and was wondering if anyone else has done this.
I mainly want the fogs to look white like the stock HID headlights and not that sickly yellow halogen color. Also I believe the stock halogen bulbs are 35W, so just about any of the LED replacements should be a lot brighter. Any opinions or advice is most welcome. |

Nope you will be the first person ever.
Keep up posted on your results. FYI fog lights are known to fly like a missile right into your nuts. Please for the love of anything holy used a sport cup when working on fog lights. It's also a good idea to let your neighbors know you might have a nut accident. I would call your local fire department on their business line just to give them a heads up.

Brighter? Possibly. However, they will still be as useless as the factory bulbs in terms of what on the road they will illuminate. They'll just blind people instead. Think about it, have you ever seen a car behind you come up and you think they have crazy bright fog lights? Then they pass you and you see that it's barely lighting up the road 2 feet in front of their front bumper.
If you really want to change your fog lights, get these (obviously not the yellow chip set). https://www.theretrofitsource.com/su...to-xb-led.html They'll be white like your HIDs (probably cooler color temp, so not exactly matching), and they'll be functional without blinding people. |

You can put fog light bulbs into a standard housing, but they'll just throw light everywhere and not be good for doing actual fog light illumination. Just for cosmetics/looks. It's because the lights are designed with specific spacing and beam focus for a halogen bulb. They actually have a cut-off and require leveling/adjusting. Also, unless your HID bulbs are also 6K temperature, the LEDs aren't going to match perfectly. OEM bulbs are 4300K. |

I use my fogs as a drl also since I wired them to always be on. The halogen lights were melting my lens. Literally I couldn't touch them without burning my finger. I knew they weren't built to always be on but in my other cars I never had a problem. I just bought cheap Amazon LEDs and now they aren't burning hot anymore. Didnt really notice any visibility difference at night. Honestly I never even noticed a difference driving at night with or without fog lights since our cars are so low. Also, you wont blind anyone because the fogs are so low. I have never in my life been blinded by fog lights before excluding lifted trucks. If anyone has ever been blinded by an frs's fogs I don't know what to say.

Since the foglight housing assy. is only shielded by some plastic splash panels I can just see steam coming out from around the light when water comes into contact with the hot LED heat sink. Not really a problem so long as you don't turn on the fogs when driving in the rain. Oh I forgot that's probably when you need them the most.
