LCA and Tire rubbing
Hi guys. I have coils and adjustable LCAs on my car. I’m running 17x9 offset 35 wheels with 255 tires. The old LCA on my car had pillow ball joints and it started making annoying noise after one year use. I figured that I'm not that hardcore so I bought a set of SPC LCA. After installing the SPC one and getting an alignment, my rear tires start rubbing with fenders which have never happened before. The alignment spec is basically same as before. My old LCA has the design same as Cusco or SPL ones which change the camber by changing the length of the rod end. The SPC ones change the camber by camber bolt. I can't find an explanation for why same alignment spec can give different result. Is it possible that I installed the SPC LCA wrong? Or it is due to LCA design difference? Thanks for any input!

RLCA would not be cause for a change even if it were one with altered geometry to force the car lower.
Something else changed: ride height or camber or both. So a coilover setting change, or alignment difference.

Maybe you had multiple holes in the old LCA and the new LCA lowered the car?
What coilovers do you have? How low are you? There's oodles of room in the back for a17x9 at modest heights, I'd be more inclined to think that the alignment slipped than the parts being at fault. |

Yes sir. The SPC LCA dropped my car a lot. I did alignment and corner balance the next day though. I even asked the alignment shop to raise the car higher than before. ![]() ![]() My car is running AST 5100. It is weird that most people with my spec doesn't have issues at all. |
