Dunlop Direzza Z III

Looks like Dunlop is launching the successor to the Direzza Z II Star Spec.

Thoughts? 🤔

I saw this earlier: http://ameblo.jp/kouta339/entry-12229306606.html

The tire should be good. The question is how it'll compare to other tires like the Bridgestone RE71R and the upcoming Hankook RS4. I don't expect it to come to the US for another year, though.

They definitely do, but with noticeable differences. I'd say those differences are far less pronounced on the ZIIIs. I'll be very curious to see how they test once they come to the U.S.

I'm guessing this is another incremental update to the Z2. I would be surprised if this was a RE-71 challenger in terms of outright grip.

These are all the rage in the Yaris community since most companies don't make the uhp summer tires in smaller tire sizes. However there is a reason most don't run them on an 86.

That reason being that they only just became available?

star specs have been out for over a decade. I am sure their new tire is better in every way than the older, but I doubt it has all of a sudden become the best out there.

This thread isn't about the previous versions, which we all know aren't competition for the RE71R. Things change. The RE71R has been out for a while. At some point, SOMEONE will eclipse it... be that Bridgestone, or someone else.

Z2 Star Spec came out in 2014 and in some use cases is still a competitive tire.

But if Google translate and the Japanese marketing material is to be believed I think you're right that they wanted to improve on the z2ss and compete against the RS4 and VR1 not the re71r.
