DIY Request: Removing Side Fender Trim

Probably an easy task to do but how do you remove the fender trims off the BRZ/FRS? I'm planning to paint the chrome trim off the BRZ.

They come off super easy, just 6 clips and a small piece of double sided sticky tape.

And here it is off the car so you can see where the tape and clips are.

I will be doing a full write up on these very soon

Thanks,
Rick

Why dont you just take the chrome trim off if you just want to paint it? All the chrome piece is really, is just a chrome cap to the actual fender trim below it. Heat it up with a heat gun and carefully pull it off. If you get it off in good shape then I would be interested in taking it off your hands for a small amount

I'm actually looking to paint the chrome piece black chrome so i don't want to risk messing up the chrome cap by taking it off.

MemphisR is suggesting removing the chrome because the standard body color trim is already present underneath. The chrome trim (not the entire trim piece that RallySport showed you how to remove, just the chrome piece) is stuck on with some double sided tape. Gently heat up the chrome and pull it off and you'll have the black trim underneath. No painting needed.

Oh no I got what he was referring to. But I actually want to paint it black chrome instead of keeping it the body color. Exactly like this:

My bad, carry on then

That should look awesome, btw! How does one paint something black chrome? I have a WRB on its way to me and I think this would look good.

I'm going to use the duplicolor shadow black chrome kit to make it black chrome.

On the fr-s version obviously it comes off same way, but does the piston badge have plastic retainers or nuts on back? Anyone know?

No, the piston emblems and rear scion badge do not have any retaining devices on the alignment pins; only the front scion bumper emblem does. All the badges and emblems are held on with double sided adhesive tape.
