installing atf cooler

After installing an atf cooler, can you just add extra fluid to the sump while the car is running until the check hole drips or does a more involved process need to be used?

Thanks!

The cooler should tell you how much ATF to add. Can't hold more than a pint I'd think

Im going with a generic one (ie B&M) and adapting it so no instructions as far as that goes. Most cars are fine with just warmup and then adding, however I remember reading something about jumping some area of the fuse box to get it into a test mode and all this other nonsense just to do a fluid changeout... if thats the case, it almost seems easier to measure how much physically fits then adding it afterward.

Are there any decent threads on the subject? Ive found threads on mounting location and cooler choice but not much mentioning finishing up the install...

Thanks again!

Try this for the procedure. I haven't attempted this yet, but I plan on installing my transmission cooler as soon as I have a free weekend.
