OEM Oil Drain Crush Washer Buying Tip

Thought I'd help out with a tip for those looking for the best way to order online for OEM oil drain crush washers / gasket for FR-S / BRZ / Toyota 86, since I couldn't really find an answer for this searching this forum.

You can order them in bulk directly from Subaru's parts store.

$.78 cents /ea, just bought 5 and shipping is $9. So overall roughly $2 each, or as much as you'd pay driving to the dealership and buying it yourself, and a better deal than anything else I've found online so far.

GASKET - OIL DRAIN PLUG
Part Number: 803916010

$9 for shipping? Unless you really need it NOW best bet is just to wait until you're driving past a dealer and stop in and pick up a few.

Another great tip is to replace the drain plug with a valve and never worry about a washer again.

A few of my cars take cartridge filters rather than spin-ons. Whenver I buy a new cartridge filter (Mahle, usually, but I've used other decent filters too), they ALWAYS come packaged with the necessary o-rings (between 2 and 4 of them, depending upon the car/filter) and new washers including the drain plug crush washer. This is true whether I buy the filter from the dealer or order from any of the various big european auto online parts suppliers (eeuroparts.com, germanautoparts.com, etc.).

Sure would be nice if the spin-ons were packaged w/ a crush-washer standard, too. I realize that there'd be more than one size of crush-washer for the various applications of a given filter, but even including an assortment of the two or three most common sizes would cost very little, and I'd be happy to pay the extra buck or whatever just for the convenience. The cartridge filters I buy aren't any more expensive than the spinons from the same manufacturers, so obviously it can be done cost-effectively.

The site links you to local dealers that sell them, but it's not sold directly from Subaru corporate.

Price varies depending on which retailer you select.

I pay less than a buck each at my local dealer. It's good to establish rapport with the parts guy. He usually give me a really good discount on everything setting that I've been going to him for over 10 years.

That's true it does link you up with your local dealerships parts department.

I don't like my local dealership to go to them to go pick it up, the salesmen said some nasty things behind my back last time I was there. And any trip I can save myself from driving out in 100 degree summer weather the better.

Also I'm just pointing out this is the best way to buy it online. The retailer on amazon is selling them $5 each and can't bulk buy, and other ft86 tuners sales shops have WAY higher shipping costs from their site. I spent $12 for 5 OEM crush washers and that's pretty decent.

Dorman 095-159 washer is also the correct size for our cars. Amazon and RockAuto.com has them. An alternative to OEM subaru.

Amazon price is usually around $10 for 10 washers.

RockAuto is cheaper, especially if you buy other things to save on shipping.

@tomaszjanczak

When I check the amazon page Q & A about the Dorman 095-159 there is a lot of conflicting information. So can you confirm your answer by showing us a side by side of the Dorman to an OEM washer? Thanks.

I don't have a side by side picture. But you can also view the information on Dorman's website - http://www.dormanproducts.com/itemde...SEName=095-159

I should be able to get a side by side picture soon though so I will post here when that happens.

I also bought these off of amazon about 6 months ago and they are equivalent to the OEM washers and work fine. However, they have gone up in price about $2-$3 for the package of 10 but it is still free shipping.

There is nothing fancy about crush washers. Just about any copper or aluminum 14mm crush washer will work.
