RHD/LHD Manifolds
Evening all,
Quick one on manifolds - people have had fitment issues buying exhaust systems for LHD/RHD on various forums. Can anyone shed any light on what part of the exhausts are different? I know the over pipes are for one, but how about the manifolds? Cheers. |

The issue is the steering column. The RHD steering column is in close proximity to where the overpipe runs, this isn't an issue for LHD. This tends to only be problematic for the overpipe and maybe manifold dependant on the routing. That's why the early Ace is not RHD compatible.
There is also the issue of gearboxes as the auto box is larger but I believe most designs have resolved this now. We had a few early UK parts jigged on manuals that then later found out they wouldn't fit an auto. Again, if you're a manual gearbox then it's not an issue either way.

So essentially, so long as the flanges (s******) on the manifold are modular to a RHD car, then I *should* be able to order one from the states and fit with a RHD spec overpipe? OR just say f*ck it, order the manifold and go custom overpipe maybe. |

That's sound advice, thanks. As for the OP bit, I would rather change it for a stainless option along with the manifold, rather have the longevity built into the exhaust, and may as well do it while I'm in there!
