Premium and limited brake pads different?
Can anyone confirm the rear brake pads are actually different and interchangeable ? The dealer as well as online look up show two different part numbers for a 2013. This normally wouldn't be an issue other than I have a Frs and get employee prices at Subaru.

Do you really want to put the OEM pad back in?

Do they also show different part numbers for a 2014? Could be a superseded part number.

There actually is a notable size difference when compared side by side. Oddly Toyota only has one part number. I went with the 000 which are larger.

There are actually 2 different sizes for rear brake pads, as there are 2 different rear brake configuration. I am not sure if N.America has the different sizes, but the rest of the world does. Here is the summary;
86 G Grade: 16' wheels, with solid (non-Vented) rear rotors 86 GT Grade: 17' wheels, with vented rear rotors Now the brake pads for the G and the GT grades are different in size, and are NOT interchangeable. So do not order the wrong part number, or you might have a pad that cannot be used. |

I don't think that we ever got the 16" wheels here. The larger pads fit perfectly and I assume that is the standard in North America. It is something to watch for at the dealer however as they list and stock both sets.

It kind of helps if OP disclosed what location the inquiry is being made in...
North America only had one brake configuration on all FRS/BRZ from 2013 - current. 2017 will (obviously) have the Performance Package upgrade as an option. -alex |

So basically what OP sees is this:
http://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru_201...10-263-01.html http://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_201...6696AG051.html "This product fits 148 vehicle variants. Subaru: 7 models, 148 variants between 2011 and 2017." http://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_201...6696CA000.html This product fits 18 vehicle variants. Subaru: 1 models, 18 variants between 2013 and 2016. What I can see is that this rear pad is identical to another rear pad found in other Subarus between 2011 and 2017. For whatever reason, they chose to create two different part numbers in their system. If the size between these two parts is actually different, then Subaru has the wrong info listed. It won't be the first time it has happened... Meh. -alex |
