Concern about CF theft?

Due to hail damage suffered last year, I'm replacing my hood, roof and trunk with Seibon carbon fiber replacement parts.

I mentioned to a buddy of mine what I was doing and he asked something I hadn't even considered. "Are you doing anything to keep the parts from getting stolen?"

So, I'll make sure the car is locked as always but is there anything else I should do?

And, I know that the Seibon parts aren't actually all that expensive but it sure would be a pain if someone decided to steal parts from my car because they thought they were...

Cars and parts get stolen all the time. It's the sad truth.

Invest in a dash cam. You can catch the fucker at the least.

Imo Seibon roof, hood, and trunk would be pretty pricey, lol. I believe the roof is held on with some type of adhesive, which im sure would be pretty difficult to just pry off. I dont think its possible to steal the trunk or the hood without getting into the car, so I would say you dont have anything to worry about.

^^^ a dash cam is a always good investment

Get coverage under your insurance. It's customized parts and equipment coverage. If they steal the carbon fiber, they will steal the camera too!

Compared to replacing with factory parts and then repainting, the carbon fiber is actually a lot cheaper. I got the hood, roof and trunk for $2100. Repairs at a body shop were more like $6500

With a Carbon Fiber hood, one of the basic pieces to install with it are hood pins for safety, which I hope you were considering already anyways. I would suggest getting some aerocatch hood pins installed, which you can get locking ones. Will give you extra security on top of the safety factor on the hood at least. You could technically do the same for the trunk with different pins or latches. But the hood I definitely recommend hood pins of some form, I have seen too many people have shattered windshields from thinking they don't need hood pins. Might not happen right away but you are just tempting fate.

Uh... no the dash cam is inside, carbon fiber outside camera if wired and hidden correctly won't even be a target and entering the vehicle for a thief is more of a risk.

You have a garage or locked gate to your place by any chance? Best thing you can do..

If they want your stuff, they will get it. Just depends on their determination.

Was wondering about this issue too. Looking at Password JDM gurney flap for the OEM spoiler and it's just double sided tape, not much you can do to "lock" it in place without drilling into the carbon fiber and the oem spoiler.

I actually wasn't planning on hood pins. So, is the reason because the latch mechanism will eventually fail on the carbon hood?

If I had space in my garages for the car, I wouldn't have hail damage in the first place...
