Installed new radiator, not feeling hot air w/ heat on?

I installed a Mishimoto radiator and put almost two jugs of coolant in the system. I had the heat on to check for leaks. I couldn't find any and could feel the coolant warm up a little and move through the tubes.

I didn't have the car on for more than 5 minutes or so but the setting of Hi felt like cool air. Just curious if I neglected something? Perhaps it takes a bit to circulate? Thanks in advanced.

I did both ways and couldn't feel any heat. I popped the bleed screw off and gave the hose coming off the water pump a little squeeze and coolant shot out, so it's circulating.

Turn the fan down to 1. The higher the fan, the longer it's going to take to feel warm air. You're taking heat out of the cooling system for the heating system...the more heat you take out the longer it will take to come to temperature. This has been invaluable here in MI, where it takes forever for the car to warm up in the winter. I usually just turn the fan on 0 or 1 until the car gets up to temp, then turn the fan up a few more to get the temp up inside the cabin.

I'm installing my intercooler tomorrow, so I'll have to wait until after to test. Maybe I just didn't let it get warm enough. The gauge showed normal operating temps after about 5mins but it was off a cold start.

You can always turn the heat on full and leave the car closed up for 5-10 minutes. You should definitely tell a difference when you check on it. Remember that even when the engine is up to temp, all of the plastic ducting and everything else also has to warm up before the air will truly come out hot...before then all of those surfaces will leech the heat right out of the air before it leaves the vents.

Another note on the fan speed...the slower the air is moving in the system, the more time it has to absorb the heat. If you blast air right through, it won't have any time to warm up before it comes out, especially if the rest of the system and the rest of the cabin is still cold.

My heater in my car is flippin insane with the stock radiator. I end up turning it down after about 10 minutes because I'm roasting. I can't wait to go to an aftermarket one, lol. Mainly for the summer.

Sounds like you got a big air pocket in cooling system. Run it with the radiator cap off, watch the bubble comes up. Fill the over flow tank up, shut the car off after it get hot, the negative pressure would suck the coolant in.

Totally agree, haven't looked to close at mine to see if there are any bleed valves but you definetly have an air pocket in the heater core. Easiest way is to run it with the radiator cap off as stated above, and if that doesn't work driving the car around about 5 mins (~ 1-2 miles) should usually push stuff around.

Just looked around on ALLDATA, and here's something I didn't know - our twins have 2 thermostats. Looks like one is the normal engine thermostat, and the other may be for the in-cabin heating system? Anyone know what the second t-stat is for???
