Car wont go into 2nd gear at all.
Hello,
I did a clutch install. And there was some play in the shifter. In this thread: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140075 I figured out what i forgot to reinstall in the shifter and i tried reinstalling and it seemed to fixed it. And as i was putting everyhing back in i wanted to check the gears and all that. The shifter will not go into 2nd at all. No matter what. It was working before installed the bushing and now i took out the bushing and it still wont go into 2nd gear. Someone pleasr tell me what i did wrong here. It was just working a second ago.�� |

Do it all over again. Pretend you are putting new what ever on the shifter.
100% of the time you forgot something or missed a step somewhere.

The official way to adjust it.
My way is to put it in first gear with the plate loose. Find the middle of the gate with the shift lever and hold it there. Butt the plate up against the lockout foot and finger-tighten it just barely enough so it stays in place. Shift into second and find the center of the gate the same way. Tinker with the plate so the foot rides against it just right for both first and second. Tighten and test it again against the gates. Repeat if necessary but probably won't be
