Mystery bolt
OK, so I'm a little paranoid but I found this bolt next on the floor of my garage (just swept it out yesterday) next to my drivers door after pulling my car in and out twice. It may or may not be from my car but as a long shot, if anyone might recognize it...help me find it's rightful home.
It's an M5-0.8 x 20mm and takes an m4 hex wrench. Thanks. |

Your tire's tread could have picked it up from the road.

Been to Ikea?
A Chinese made oil cooler bracket or certain aftermarket parts could use those bolts but nothing I recall on the exterior of the twins. You are paranoid or an OCD neat freak. There are probably a dozen things on the floor in my garage that could have come from my car (but didnt).

So I was able to read the markings on the screw which indicate the manufacture (YFS) and grade (12.9). A quick google search shows this to be about equivalent to a grade 8 SAE bolt.
Looking around, I see the exact same bolt down to the MFG, grade and style (with the exception of size) on my Edelbrock SC, so that has me a little concerned. It would be great if it was brought in by my tires but I see no indication of it going for a "ride". That's not to say it still didn't come in that way though. Probably nothing for most normal people to worry about...but apparently I'm not normal, you might say I've been "screwed" in the past!.

I'd start checking the engine bay for comparable looking bolts. Then start looking from there. |

So now I'm thinking it may have come from a bicycle I pulled from the rafters in my shed this weekend...got tired of banging my head on the handle bars and gave it away to the old guy down the street that sells bikes on the side of the road.
I'll go see if he still has it to verify that's where it came from so ya'll can stop stressing out over this little freaking screw.

That screw looks like it's from a bottle cage or some handlebar accessory on a bike.
I have the same exact screw for my old cateye bell. |

![]() Looks like a bike part. Prolly loosened from all that head-banging. Cannot recall seeing seeing SHC screws of that size on the twins. Maybe a touch of brain trauma but not paranoid.

Looks exactly like the socket-head cap screw holding the hydraulic brake line bracket to the front strut on my Fortune Auto 500's. same screw also used on the camber plates in those struts. Check all those screws if you're running coilovers.
