driving in 1st weak/stuttering feeling

As the title says, when I have been driving around a parking lot in 1st at about 5-10 miles an hour, I put the gas down and when accelerate, it feels weak and jolty and sometimes feels like it stutters. Anyone know if this is normal and just part of the synchro since i heard first and secon are rough?

I feel that happened to me mostly when I let off the clutch too quickly - I readjusted the clutch so it doesn't really happen anymore for me
I'm not exactly sure what it meant, I just shift out of first as fast as possible whenever that happens

Is it just the feel? Or is there a noise too?

i've had the same feeling, super noticeable yesterday when I was creeping in traffic, moving in first gear, around 4-8 mph. it didn't matter if i was moving at a constant speed or varying between 4-10 mph, the ride felt jerky, and would feel like something was catching the gear and then releasing it again. I'm not sure if that's a good way to explain it, but it definitely wasn't smooth.

Sounds like heat soak. S2000s were notorious for doing this in traffic. It was like riding a mechanical bull. I've yet to experience anything similar in the FR-S.

If you're talking about deceleration, then I believe it's normal because I feel it on other MT cars too. If you're talking about acceleration, then I've never felt that.

Come to think of it, I remember having that on other MT cars. I, too, did not experience it in FR-S. Interesting.

When I had my S2000, I could feel it coming on and I'd have to slip the clutch to avoid looking like an idiot bucking down the road. It would settle down after a second or two.

It's also possible that the OP just isn't very smooth with the clutch / gas yet.

thats pretty much exactly how it felt, i would be moving at a constant speed at 5+ mph just around a parking lot, not even shifting from neutral to first and it would just do that

It just takes time and practice bro. The same thing happened on my first manual car in 2011. You will learn to smoothly let off the clutch while giving the right amount of gas. Also, if the engine is not warmed up it will probably do that regardless of how well you shift.

when im moving at a constant speed at say 5mph i dont need to be using the clutch right? I feel somewhat jerkyness from neutral at a stop to 1st because of my inexperience with manuals but when im at a constant speed I dont really need to play around with the clutch just use the gas I thought?
