Popping/creaking noise in hard left turns
So I have been experiencing this issue for a bit and I haven't been able to figure out what it is.
When I make a hard left turn, meaning the load and pressure are shifted to the right side, there's a popping/clunking/creaking noise that comes from the right front wheel. It also happens sometimes when going over potholes/bumps. And almost certainly happens when turning left OVER potholes/bumps. It can happen more than once during a turn. It definitely seems to be more prevalent during hard, 90 degree, turns as compared to slow gradual curves in the road. I have stock suspension and 36k miles on my 2013. Any idea what this might be? I am not sure if it would be steering or suspension, nor what specific component might be causing it. |

Your car is too new and low miles for a lot of the suspension problems. Especially if you haven’t run over any big pot holes lately.
I would check for the simple stuff first. My noise ended up being that the grill was pulled and separated from the front bumper because I parked over a wheel stop and it pulled on front bumper when I backed out. When I went to the dealer, they told me it was my right strut/spring. They wanted $700 to change out one. I had a lot more miles than you. I bought a used set from eBay and changed out both the front left and right strut. Still heard popping. Then changed out my right tie rod. Still heard the noise. I got so frustrated that I spent like 2 hours one morning just checking and yanking on everything until I found the bumper issue. Pulled the grill towards me and Popped it back in and the noise disappeared when I went for a drive. Would have never figured that it was that simple. My symptoms: No noise at high speed, Only made noise at low speeds and when I turned at low speeds and when I went over bumps. Hope it helps. I did all the YouTube videos on diagnosing problems like yanking the wheel at 6 and 12 and 3 and 9 to diagnose what type of an issue if it is an actual suspension issue and came up negative. |
