If You Have a Notchy 5th Gear in the Mobile, AL Area

The notchy 5th gear issue is a common one, but dealerships are hit and miss on their willingness to fix the problem. Allen Toyota in Gulfport, MS is horrible about it, for example. An hour East of there is Springhill Toyota, and they replaced my friend's tranny for free. So I brought mine in and they replaced mine for free too. On the way out, the guy ran out and stopped me and told me to tell everyone with this problem to bring it in and they'll handle it. He gave me like 5 business cards.

HMMMMM don't have the issue and it is a freakin' long drive but damn free a tranny may be worth it.

Nice to see a positive dealer story on here for a change.

Haha I doubt it. I'm sure you could find a dealership in your area to do it. The one in Gulfport uses the excuse of not being able to replicate it. The one in Mobile realized once that it was a problem, so now that they've proven it to themselves, they're really easy going about it.

If you can't find a dealership that is already aware of the issue or that won't get off their ass and discover it, maybe you could pick the best one in your area and have them call the Mobile dealership to explain the situation to them. If a few more people get them replaced in Mobile, Mobile will have a very strong case, maybe even for a recall.
