Why the boxer was used is explained in full. Not sure why people think it is a mystery.
Pardon my ignorance (read: poor comprehension maybe)

Could you please point me in the right direction for why the boxer was used, apart from it's a Subaru item in basically a Subaru.

Disclaimer: I do like both Toyota and Subaru, for multiple reasons, I am jadded a bit though, blind faith in marketing and branding tends to muddy the waters.

As stated, I've owned a few of both and will continue to buy from them as they are really the only two car brands that I would purchase, price, reliability, after sales service and support are heads and shoulders above anything in their price points.

Disclaimer to the disclaimer: I don't really like the boxer engine for a few reasons, but, not enough to not buy my 86.
