The OEM Zenki, Kouki duckbills also had studs that needed the trunk to be drilled.
However, a lot of people that I know opted to remove the studs and simply stick it on.

You would have to essentially bake the tail lights like how you would with head lights, replace the LED with red ones that have the same draw as the existing ones (testing required) then resolder...
