Double sided tape

Does anyone have any idea if Toyota sells the double sided tape they use on the TRD body kit and spoiler? The stuff I pulled off the spoiler, for example, was really thick and it's hard to source. I also don't know the exact thickness I need. If Toyota stocks a particular size that would help. Ideas?

3M tape, unless toyota's is already rebranded 3M.

I know, but it isn't standard double sided tape. It's more like foam tape. And it's fairly thick.

I would still recommend 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus tape. I never see it in stores though; I usually just see the "Super Strength Molding" tape which is not as good as the Acrylic Plus.

That's exactly what I ordered but it's too thin. The oem white tape is over 1/4" I think.

Maybe try using two layers?

Anyone else? Two layers isn't thick enough.....

One last bump as a last ditch effort. I've searched for hours on the net, made all sorts of calls, and can't find anything thick enough. I need a minimum of 1/4" thick. Anyone?

Start at findtape.com

Here:

and/or

Check their foam tape comparison matrix

And if you can't find it from one of those links, call their number 1-800-806-7580

Lastly... if you end up using 3M automotive tape, make sure to use 3M 4298 adhesion promoter. It will make certain that your parts are going nowhere. It's also very cheap on the same website in swabs or a larger bottle container.

Google 3M VHB tape. You can get it in as thick as .090" Which is really fucking thick for tape. .250" thick tape probably wouldnt do well holding anything together. Thats like window gasket sealer thick.

wootwoot 07-14-2015 10:58 PM

.250 is how thick the stock stuff is.....
