2017 BRZ iDatalink ADS-RR Headunit Install Compatibility
Hi guys,
I just wanted to know if anyone successfully installed the iDatalink ADS-RR Maestro along with the iDatalink HRN-RR-T01 harness with a Pioneer 4200 NEX. I bought these based on the recommendation of Crutchfied.com last week. At the time it showed that it was 100% compatible with the 2017 BRZ. I tried flashing the ADS-RR and now realize that is not the case as the 2017 BRZ is not even listed. I also went to the Crutchfield website and they now have nothing recommended for the 2017 BRZ. I bought the parts from different vendors, so am I SOL or is there a way to make it work somehow on a 2017 BRZ? Thank you for any information in advanced guys. |
try the 2016?
I personally haven't messed with the idata link before, I just have a 4100nex and a Bluetooth odb2 that I use with torque. what features are you trying to retain, or gain with the datalink? steering wheel controls, tire pressure readouts? i'm just curious mostly. IIRC the 4200 and 4100 are the same with the exception of the data link support, and I think the 4200 got a faster processor... which the 4100 needed if im being frank. |
I just had installed the iDatalink ADS-RR Maestro along with the iDatalink HRN-RR-T01 harness in my 2017 Yellow with a Kenwood DNX893S. The tech that installed it is a master Kenwood installer with the same unit in his Toyota. It was a major pain in the butt. Everything is working, Sirius, Backup camera, Garmin Nav, BUT only the "Source" steering wheel button works on the idatalink, waiting for them to release an updated flash. Sort of pissed that I have to pull the unit out to reflash it later on.

Crutchfield is so far off with ANYTHING 2017+ on this platform. I had a chat trying to figure out what I needed and decided to go elsewhere, the guy insisted I needed a 1DIN unit...
I'm not doing the iDatalink though, need my OBD port. |
I agree Crutchfield can sometimes be off. When I got my Kenwood HU for my 2017 86, the install instruction and ready harness was for 2013 FRS. Had to figure out how to wire the oem camera by myself. I did get the iDatalink for it, very happy with it. I did get a OBD2 splitter from Amazon so I can use the other OBD2 port
