What kind of fuel economy do you get?

Currently, I'm averaging about 10.6 L/100km. I'm trying to get it down to an even 10.

Computer states 27 with mixed city and highway. I always calculate it myself and it's surprisingly accurate (my last car was not).

I have been solid on 6.8 for the last two years.

killerham 11-18-2016 11:53 AM

I should probably use the search

Whoa! On highway or city? Manual or automatic?

I've just been city driving with a manual.

98% 401. I live in London and work in Woodstock, Windsor and Tillsonburg. I drive about 5,500 a month. Since all my plants are right off the 401 and I live about 6 blocks from it I spend very little time driving in the city. I also travel at off rush hour times so it is 120kph hit cruise and leave it for up to 2 hours. Makes for a great average mileage.

Don't use the site search. Just Google your question and add ft86club.

go_a_way1 11-18-2016 12:13 PM

I've certainly learned not to trust that average miles per gallon thing in the instrument cluster.

It's usually approximately 1.5 miles per gallon too optimistic.

Use your own calculator, it does not lie.

Additionally, here in Cali we have vapor recovery nozzles on the gas pumps. I can't prove it, but believe some of them, if put on slowest speed, put in more gas than the car actually holds. In other words, they MAY suck back more than just fumes.

I average (by the cars calculations) 7.9, or 7.6 (by mine).
I drive 28km each way to work in medium city traffic 5 days a week.
Also get out for a couple hundred kms of mountain driving once a week.

Back when I had the car stock, I actually was able to get the car to low 5s easily on my highway only route of 228km per day.
I was easily getting 800-850km per tank.
But then I upgraded my wheels and get only about 550-650km.

First 1500 miles mostly mixed highways (avg 60 mph) slight remote drafting (not a big factor w/frontal area) just about 38 indicated/ 36 actual calculated max/30-32 minimum (short thrills in the mtns very limited) . Roughly the same as my Focus which also has a huge computer BS factor which hit 40 from NC to St. Louis. Have you watched the instantaneous figure off throttle? I found it entertaining as it bounced from 75 to over 100.
