Raceseng reverse lockout installed
I have Racesengs full pulley kit and this little gem "Reverse Lockout"
repeats their commitment to quality. Of course this is a cosmetic item more then anything and to me, the feel is just great as well being metal versus plastic. You will need a 3/32 punch to remove the stock roll pin and a small hammer. I did this myself not difficult. However if you had a lending had to hold the wire carrier (below main boot) it would help a ton. Took me over a half hour cause I was fiddling trying to get the carrier up and weird angles to hold it to be able to insert the included threaded bolt for the Raceseng RL to hold & go throuhg the wire carriers top hat. Overall a nice piece, great finish and a just a great touch up piece for the interior to IMO. One last bit of advice is before installed Raceseng lockout, put some grease inside bore to keep friction minimal against the plastic sleeves riding inside the lockout. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psa65c2a05.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps151f2b65.jpg |
Now you just need a drift knob.

Without the knob your lockout looks lonely :(

I want to get the Beatrush one in red. Mainly cuz it doesn't have a huge "R" on it, and it's like 20 bucks cheaper. Thanks for the info on how to install. I heard you have to have guts to hit it hard enough.

I understand why some do not want or wouldn't want the branding, to me no biggie. I got all their pullies under hood all marked etc, etc..
Just had not seen any threads or mentions of the lockout so thought to share was all. |
Subtle and I like the black, I might have to do this too. I need the STi shift knob as well.

just installed this, I did it with the shifter in reverse so there is no need to fiddle around trying to lift it up while install the pin. Took a a while to thought of it, end it up shifting it in and out of gear a few times trying to get the pin in (bad idea with the car not on).
Should of had it in reverse from the beginning |
This Raceseng Ashiko shiftknob and Reverse Lockout feels amazing!

Just installed my Raceseng reverse lockout:
http://i.imgur.com/Pn0nVrg.jpg I used a bar clamp to get started rather than a hammer, as suggested in this thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70406 It wasn't really working when I offset the clamp as that thread suggests...maybe the clamp I bought wasn't heavy duty enough. So I just kept the clamp straight and pushed out the pin a little into the opposite rubber clamp face. Once started it was easy to tap it the rest of the way out with a hammer. The 3/32" craftsman punch I got bent pretty easily. :iono: Thumbs up on the Raceseng lockout...easy upgrade and a nice touch! |
Follow up post regarding the Raceseng reverse lockout: Still enjoying the lockout, now paired with a beautiful translucent charcoal Raceseng slammer knob. One thing I noticed though is that the Raceseng reverse lockout is pretty damn sharp by the opening for the screw. I'm not cutting open my finger or anything, but it doesn't feel so nice when you touch that part. Anyone experience this too?

"The position of the socket head cap screw in relation to where the upper ring is creates this. We try to chamfer the cutout shape where the screw sits but there is only so much we can do. The one you have is the same as the others that we sell." It's just a bit sharp there but doesn't cause any issues at all...I'm still loving my slammer and lockout combo from Raceseng. |
