DIY: Updating the Wheel Directory
For future moderators of this forum, these are the steps that I have developed to update the Wheel Directory (WD).
The WD has an alphabetized entry for every wheel make/model/spec. The spec is arranged numerically based on the diameter of the wheel, then the width, then the offset. If a staggered setup is used then organize based on the front wheel width, then the rear wheel width. For example: Advan RG-D 18x8.5 +33 Advan RG-D 18x8.5 +33 / 18x9.5 +40 Advan RG-D 18x9.5 +40 The WD is spread through multiple posts because there is a maximum character size and image count that each post is allowed to contain. Right now the first post contains important info and links, the second two posts contain offset charts (front & rear) and the final three posts is the directory itself. (A-G, H-Q, R-T) If you ctrl-F the page with wd1, wd2, or wd3 then you will be zapped to the edit button of each section. In the future, when more entries are added, the directory will have to be split into four topics to accommodate all of the information. FINDING NEW TOPICS Subscribe to a weekly update on the wheel forum. Once per week you will get an email from the forum that lists all new topics that have been created during the previous seven days. Alternatively, you can open the Wheel Forum, scroll to the bottom and on the left side there is a box marked Display Options. Set that to sort by Thread Start Time, Descending, and you will be able to find all new topic. 1) NEW WD ENTRY - If a new thread is about a wheel/spec that is not listed in the WD then save that topic link so you can come back to it 2) EXISTING WD ENTRY - If a thread is about a wheel/spec that already exists in the WD then merge that topic with the existing topic about that wheel/spec, then post inside of that topic that you have merged them and call out the OP's name in a tag so they are aware of it. 3) WILL IT FIT - If someone is asking if a particular wheel/spec fits their car then merge that topic into the stickied "Will this fit" topic to reduce clutter in the forum. 4) WRONG FORUM - If a new thread is someone posting wheels for sale then move that entire topic to the appropriate forum, either marketplace or vendor wheel sales forum. 5) All other new threads can be left alone CREATE WD ENTRY IMAGE Each entry in the WD has an image that is 450 pixels wide and about 100-150 pixels tall. In that image is a square photo of the wheel unmounted on a tire, and the image of that wheel installed on the car in the new topic that we are adding. ![]() 1) SCREEN CAP THE CAR - In the new topic find the best photo that represents the wheel and car -- hopefully a side view, but whatever looks best. For this example I am using the Ambit Wheel RT8 topic. Use your graphics program to take a screen capture. ![]() 2) SCREEN CAP THE WHEEL - Find the manufacturer's website for that wheel and then take a screen cap of the wheel unmounted. If there is no manufacturer's site then you gotta go for Google Images. For this example, I found the Ambit RT8 in the 18x9.5 +38 fitment that is pictured in the topic. Use your graphics program to take a screen capture. ![]() 3) CROP IMAGES - Crop the wheel square (or approximately square) and crop the car tightly. ![]() 4) RESIZE TO MATCH HEIGHTS- Find the height of the shorter image and proportionally shrink the taller image to match the height of the shorter one. For example, in this case the wheel image is 370x362 and the car image is 702x292 so I am going to resize the wheel image to a height of 292 which proportionally resizes the width to 298. Now both images are 292 pixels tall. ![]() 5) MERGE SIDE BY SIDE - Join the two images into one. In my program I resize the canvas size of the wheel to a WAY TOO WIDE value, then copy and paste the car image next to it, then crop the entire image so it just contains the two pictures and eliminates the blank space. Do it however you can. ![]() 6) RESIZE TO 450 PIXELS WIDE - Now we need the newly-merged image to be 450 pixels wide so it matches the layout of the other entries in the WD. So I just resize proportionally to 450 pixels wide, which in this case caused the height to resize to 132 pixels. I have a sharpen filter that I also apply at this time because it restores some of the detail that was lost in the compound resizing. ![]() 7) HOST ON IMGUR - Now I save the image and upload it to imgur.com where it can be linked into the new entry. ![]() BACKING UP THE EXISTING DATA If you have already been doing updates you should have a backup of each post already, but if this is your first time then MAKE A BACKUP! A simple mistake can result in losing an entire topic's worth of data that is simply irreplaceable, so take a minute to make sure you have a current backup of the existing data. 1) On your computer create eight new text documents and number them 01.txt through 08.txt 2) On each of the individual posts that make up the topic click to pull up the edit page.3) Click the button to switch editing modes from WYSIWYG to the bbCode view4) Click your cursor in the post code, then Ctrl-A to select all and Ctrl-C to copy 5) Click your cursor in the appropriate new text document and Ctrl-V to paste. Close and save that file. 6) As of today, 3/31/15, I have backed up everything in text and screen cap and it is available here. 7) Every time you update the WD you should make a new backup as soon as you are finished! ADDING LISTING TO THE DIRECTORY So now you have a list of topics that need to be added, and a bunch of images hosted on Imgur, so lets add em! 1) Begin editing the appropriate post. There is a shortcut to go directly to the edit button of each post. Ctrl-F in your browser to find, then type one of the following: wd1 (A-D), wd2 (E-G), wd3 (H-Q), wd4 (R-T), wd5 (V-Z) 2) Once you are in post edit mode, click to switch from WYSIWYG mode to bbCode mode.3) Scroll or search to find where you need to insert your new wheel. Remember, the order is brand, model, diameter, width, offset. If you are inserting a staggered setup then order by the front wheel size, then the rear wheel. 4) Copy (Ctrl-C) the lines of code for a wheel near where you are inserting yours, then paste (Ctrl-V) that copied code into the appropriate spot for your new wheel. Now we are going to make a few changes. ![]() A: Topic Number: copy from the end of the URL of the topic being added B: Image Link: copy from the Imgur upload page for the correct image C: Wheel Diameter: 15-20 D: Wheel Style: 5-9 (number of spokes with 9 being 9+) s5,s5-s8 (number of split spokes) m (mesh) E: [Brand] [Model] [Diameter]x[Width] +[Offset] and if staggered add: /[Rear Diameter]x[ Rear Width] +[Rear Offset] . . . . (For page searching reasons, no spaces between the diameter, the x and the width, but space before the +) F: Wheel Weight: without tire! If you have the weight remove the Red color tags G: Rear Wheel Weight: Only for staggered setups, otherwise remove this entire section of code H: Date: Self-explanatory, haha I: Mfg Link: Link to page specific to that model wheel, otherwise delete this section 5) Now that you have made your changes, Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C to copy the entire post to memory, then save the post. 6) Scroll to the new wheel and make sure it looks right. If something went horribly wrong, you can edit, Ctrl-A and Ctrl-V and you are right back where you were. 7) If all is good, then add the wheel name and link to a new post at the end of the Wheel Directory topic to let people know that the new wheel was added. ADDING NEW SPECS TO THE OFFSET CHARTS This is so complicated I'm scared to have anyone else edit it... but I sure don't want to do it anymore! Front Offset Chart: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...40&postcount=2 Rear Offset Chart: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...90&postcount=3 I edit this in WYSIWYG mode, it's pretty much impossible to manipulate in the bbCode mode. I open one window in edit mode, another in regular viewing mode so I can count squares, and a third in edit mode that I don't touch... just in case something goes wrong. Whew. Basically, just copy and paste a green square into the correct location by counting the squares in the non-edit mode page. Then highlight that new green square and use the button to add the appropriate topic link to that new square. If you want to abandon this part of the WD I wouldn't think less of you. Good luck!

OK, if anyone wants to help then now is the time. A new image must be created for every new entry in the Wheel Directory. The instructions and links are above. Let's see what ya got!

17x9+35 best tire set up?
I have 17x9+35 wheels but I don’t know what is the best firment 235/40 or 245/40? Someone know what might be the best choice ? And am I’m going to rub or have fitment issues? What would be the best tire size for daily driving?

Are you on stock suspension? The best tire size would be 245/40/17 as they are an exact match to stock size. You will not have rub issues as you have a +35 offset.

I'd better try first ask in thread that fits more to question asked. This particular thread is related to add new entries to pinned thread, wheel directory. Why not consider checking up pinned wheel directory first posts for table of flush fitment, or linked threads for wheels of similar size and see which tire size people use on such wheels and how they fit? Or ask in another pinned thread, will this fit?
