Power windows do not stop

My one-touch opening and closing on the power windows works fine. However, when I want to only open the window part way, I push the switch in the other direction and it auto closes. So my windows are either 100% open or closed.

Anyone else have this problem (and a solution)? Is there a certain "touch" needed? I can feel the jokes coming already.

there are two stages in windows switch.

if you press or push all the way, it triggers auto up/down.
if you press or push and hold, without going all the way, it will stop when you take your finger off it

There should be a detent between the auto and normal operation. If you can't feel it, or you can but it auto rolls even before reaching the detent, take it in, it's defective.
