Header and exhaust advice

I am looking into replacing my header in preparation to adding a supercharger in my car. I was looking into putting in the nameless performance headers and replacing the exhaust with a perrin exhaust. While looking into all of this, i am trying to keep the car roughly the same decibel level as the stock car. I don't like extremely loud cars, as i feel they detract from the car and feel that if this car were to be louder than an its WRX/STI brethern then it would just be like every other tuning project gone wrong. I intend on keeping this car my DD with some track days at least once or twice a month.

hmmm... I know most of the time people want to change the header to a catless header because that's where most of our exhaust constriction is. But adding a catless header to these cars make them loud. I can't remember which perrin catback sounds great with small decibal increase but I know that the invidia q300 is a nice exhaust that is considered to be one of the quieter ones on the market.

The muffler is there to make the car quiet, which is exactly what you want, so why would even consider wasting money on a loud one that gives you zero power? You could run the stock cat back with sc and even then the loss would be marginal.

Stock is really quiet. Perrin resonated CBE + catless header will be much louder. Your best bet is to leave the stock catback if you plan on going catless header.

Nameless headers have a 3 inch outlet. You'll need an over pipe to mate to the header. I suggest a custom one with a 3 inch flange on the header side to reduce chances of a leak. Keep the stock front pipe and if you want it a bit louder down the road, Perrin 2.5 inch resonated cat back.

Just make sure you keep your cats if you don't want to be loud. They help a ton, I took mine out like a lot of others here and it rattles my house every morning lol!

Those two are mutually exclusive.

You can try running Nameless header + Nameless overpipe + front pipe (1 piece) with resonator and cat + perrin resonated 2.5 inch exhaust. This should be relatively quiet compare to other combinations.

I think a catless header with a catted and resonated fp/op with a resonated catback like the perrin or q300 wouldnt be too loud? Anyone with this setup? I would stay away from any 3 inch exhausts as they make the car stupid loud

Im selling my Nameless header ceramic coated, 2.5" OP/FP combo with 200 cell HFC and Helmholtz resonator. Couple with stock muffler its almost like stock level sound decible. They worked awesome with my Jackson Racing SC.

PM me know if you are interested!

Ive been trying to build a car that wont attrach a lot of attention on the streets from everyone thinking im just another douche with a suped up car after i start adding some performance modifications but at the same time i didnt want to limit the new mods becauae of this. I know there is no one and the other, i am looking for a best of both world thing. If anyone has any more advice, i would appricate hearing it.

I run a catless header with the stock muffler. Works great.... gives you just a BIT of rumble on the outside, but sounds more like an 'enhanced' stock exhaust at the most. Quieter than a WRX stock. Big power increase in midrange though.

....Why don't you try it with the stock muffler first? If you decide otherwise you can always buy an aftermarket exhaust later.

Like you've heard from a couple people. Start with replacing the header and leaving the rest of the exhaust stock. You will keep nearly the EXACT same noise below 3.5k RPM and anything above that will be slightly louder, but in a good way. If you don't like the stock exhaust tips, I got these: http://perrinperformance.com/i-13324...-fr-s-brz.html
that cover the look (doesn't change the sound).

I drove a modified accord for 5-6 years with a decently loud exhaust and I was so sick of it when I finally got my FR-S. Don't spend any money on exhaust other than the header. Use it everywhere else first. I hate sounding loud when I'm not even driving fast (most aftermarket exhausts ever)

Check my sig for exhaust setup.

The Q300 with my other exhaust work is still pretty loud. It is nowhere near stock, but it is mellow and not too nuts if you drive normally. WOT is another story..... but it will not be anywhere close to stock sounding if you replace the header with a catless
