Morristown, NJ on Ridgedale Ave. To their defense, the manager did say they will talk to the mechanics on this. Whether or not this will happen again at this location, I don't want to find out. I was the first to buy from there and likely first one they saw in person, so I suppose its not that unusual for them to be excited. My only gripe is that it is someone's personal car - go beat on the showroom ones if you want to have your fun.

I wish I found this fun.
Yes, that idle chirp is pretty loud. I get embarrassed driving in a covered parking lot. I hope you get your rear deck noise fixed. I'm not so sure about the idle chirp considering how many people are complaining about it and not one person got it fixed yet. But I'm pretty sure Toyota is working on the idle chirp issue and I'm not worried about that.

3500 miles is the longest it took for this noise to start that I've heard so far. 2500 miles was the longest until yours. I updated my original post.

They drove it pretty hard dropping my avg mpg by 0.7 mpg with 1/3 tank left over 7 miles. Obviously I wasn't very happy on their joyride and complained to the service manager. Does anyone know if I can bring it to another local suby dealer to have it looked at and fixed?
You should be able to bring it to any dealer as cnk says. It's hard to tell if the car was taken for a joyride or had just been left idling for a long time. But if the fix was just replacing a fuse, I don't understand why they needed to drive it for 7 miles. I wouldn't feel right about it too.

Same problem

I have experienced the same noise. At first I thought it was the license plate flexing and hitting the deck lid but it continued after I removed the plate. I think I had about 1000 miles when I first noticed it. Looking forward to getting it fixed.
Thanks!

I heard that today, But i think I ran into something. I thought it was just a cardboard but it made a loud noise from the bottom of the car. Hopefully it didnt damage anything

This is the same problem I've been having for months. Doesn't sound like the same thing. Back right side of the car.

Thanks. . luckily I don't deal with that dealership. I will say this though, even if the guys at the dealerships don't put miles on your car, it doesn't stop them from revving the piss out of the engine. I watched a salesman at a Mazda dealership get into a MazdaSpeed3 and proceed to start it and rev it to redline again and again for 5m before shutting it off and walking back inside. Makes you want to hook up a GoPro and leave it running the entire time the car is at the dealership.

Hello, long-time lurker, first time poster. I have had the BRZ for a couple of months now, almost 3k miles. Suddenly this last two weeks it developed the same noise as most you folks are talking about. It seems to be from the right rear, checked everything but impossible to locate. I also contacted Subaru through their website. They replied asking me to let them know where/when I will take the car for service. They would like to follow-up on the issue, etc. Just wanted to let you know it's happening to one more BRZ/FRS. Other than that, the car has been quite excellent. It also has the engine chirp, but that doesn't bother me much. But this clicking/tapping in the rear is driving me crazy. Thanks for letting me vent.

The clicking/popping noise is really annoying. Anyone advise how they got their BRZ fixed (specifics)?

Anyone else attempt to point out the 'exact' location of fix. I'd be willing to do this myself with some guidance.

Thanks!

My FR-S is heading into Scion tomorrow (9/4) to have this fixed. I'll give everyone an update when/if they're able to track it down.

my FRS is at the dealer now. i hit em for all kinds of stuff all at once. DRL's off, horn off on alarm, auto alarm/lock set off. I also mentioned the rattle at 4k rpm somewhere under the shifter. Last but not least i mentioned this tapping noise. even tho it kind of went away for me... i havent heard it in a couple days. i gave them the TAS# but the dude doing the paperwork looked at me with the deer in the headlights look but wrote it down.

i told them i was on a time crunch of a couple hours as i had to pick up my kids... about a hour later he came back and gave mea loaner car. said will call me later today with a update.

Wish me luck everyone. hope i get my FRS back sooner then later... this Xd sucks. i feel like im sitting on top of a stack of crates in this thing.
