Just read MAPerformance's thread on the EcoBoost. That torque is unreal.

Paul is only driven by horsepower and torque. Most times I never agree with his tastes at all. Todd has said plenty times he favors a low weight, RWD, manual, balanced, sports car. And he always loved the FR-S as it harkens back to the older days for him and a lot of enthusiast.

If you watch his initial review of the BRZ when it first came out, Paul raved and loved it. He even questioned if adding more power would disrupt the balance of the car. Here's what I think. Some of this show is a shtick. If they always both agreed, the show would be boring, but Paul is clearly trying to stir the pot in this video and I think it is done to make the videos more fun to watch and get more reaction/views/clicks...

It's entertainment.

Yeah the FR-S is kind of the perfect car for their show because it's so damn polarizing. It allows Todd and Paul to settle into their roles as good cop/bad cop.

I was a bit sad to hear that they bought one with an extended warranty though. Not much hope they'll try FI or even something as simple as header/tune.

Yeah I saw that one. They have agreed on some cars alike and I just feel Paul is just jumping on the negative bandwagon probably because of the hype associated with the car.

I'm pretty happy to hear that Todd got himself an FR-s. i enjoy most of these guys reviews. He mentioned that he wanted a Lotus but went with his budget of 20k and got himself a used FR-s. Great buy for him i hope he enjoys it as much as all of us enjoy ours

Agreed, some of the show is schtick. They seem to be manufacturing counterpoints and conflict. It's unnecessary really.

With that being said, I'm not totally sure Paul isn't also expressing geniune non-enthusiast leanings. Paul doesn't seem to care how power is made (turbo, SC, big displacement, etc), just so long as it's there. Paul also doesn't seem to care which wheels drive the car, just so long as it feels "sporty". Paul seems to prioritize GT comfort over Sports car communication. He's definitely more of the "everyday driver" on the cast. So much so that it irks the enthusiast in me to hear his commentary on cars like the FR-S that he doesn't seem to understand very well. It's like my mom reviewing an Elise. She'd never really get it.

Paul also seems to have a Ford bias that causes him to gush about anything with a blue oval not named Subaru.

If this is the case, it's not a good direction.

Funny thing is that in each and every one of their BRZ/FR-S reviews Todd complained about not having enough power.

These guys don't put out videos weekly. They are relatively slow by YouTube standards. Yet they've featured the twins 5 times by my count. Probably because we increase their view count each time.

Paul revealed on their podcast that he previously worked for Ford. He has a formal background in car design. This explained a lot in terms of how he's so into interior comfort, design and feel. It's a different perspective from a buyer like me willing to give up what I consider unnecessary luxury for car feel because I can't afford a Cayman for both! LOL!
