Ur comment makes me want to get this car even more!

Just keep in mind that even though the 86 has a back seat it's really just a two passenger car when you're talking about adult size people. The only passenger that's been in my car is my wife. In fact, my back seat has been down since the day I bought the car.

If you were to get the GT86, would you get it in a manual transmission? That's another factor to consider. If you ever want to learn to drive stick, the earlier the better.

I hate to say it, but if you buy the Porsche, even if it is the right choice and you even enjoy the car you will still obsess over the GT86 you didn't buy.

So basically my question is how stable is the 86 on the high and normal everyday use? because im going to have to go through a lot of highways when i go to University next year.
@Shutter @ZetaPerformance @zygrene @Kelbyat07 @fatoni

Dont get me wrong, im in love with the GT86 and I've been dreaming about it for a year. the only reason im asking this is because ive never actually test drive it.

I too have to drive on the highway to school and I love it. It feels comfortable whether you're cruising or speeding.

If I were you, go test drive one from your dealership.

Garage
Buy the GT86 and don't look back. This car isn't the best in all aspects, but there's a synergy there that few cars can match. Smiles per mile FTW!!!

I've driven many personal cars and as an ex-cop from the UK have driven some pretty quick stuff at top speeds, which is interesting to say the least.

I am now in my 50's and thought I had grown up.

Then I drove the 86! I love this little car. It is the most fun and best handling car I have ever driven. I now go out for a drive just for the sake of it (haven't done so for years) and just to put a huge smile on my face.

My advice to you - buy the 86, take it to a track and learn how to drive it properly and you will get far more out of it. Don't turn the safety features off until your skill level matches your ambitions and you should be fine. It is a good safe car unless you drive it like a lunatic.

The manual is more fun but I have driven the auto as well and it is still a great car.

Whatever you choose, enjoy and be safe

OP, my advice is not the same as the rest.. I'd jump on the Porsche... And I hate Porsche.. I think they are all douche bags, and you can go through my post made by me and see all the times I've ragged them.. That said.. At 18, the sports car is the obvious choice, just like my little two, seat convertible I got.. A miata.. (First car was a 86mercury topaz lol) anyways, year and a half later I had my daughter and it didn't work out so well... A cayenne is not a bad SUV, I like the newer ones.. And if given the choice at 18 knowing what I know now I'd get that SUV and wouldve ended up with a sports car a couple years later as a second car..

The hype of this car is over whelming.. People talking about how this car is better then all their other ones.. I can't even come close to saying that.. I've never owned 911's, vettes, or any other real sports car, but I've had just as much fun, if not more in some of my other cars.. 79 RX7, 93 ford probe GT, 95 eclipse GSX, all were great cars, and at the time a blast to drive.. My FRS gives me a smile, but doesn't replace memories of my previous cars. It's sooo much fun, and I don't have a bit of buyers remorse.. Even owning the auto, I'd do it all again.. But getting a family car, a reliable DD, that is extremely practical, and not making compromise in any area, then getting a nice "toy" as a second.. That's the way to go in my opinion.. That way if life changes, you'll already be ready

it is rich but those old definitions dont really have anything to do with money even though there were correlations at the time they were defined. i think it has to do with what side of ww2 the country was on. the first world were countries that were allied with america and were typically capitalist. the second world is pretty much the everything that used to be the soviet union or their allies. third world was what they called everything that wasnt involved. i think the connotation comes from the fact that the majority of countries not involved were developing countries at the time.

I've never seen porsche make anything well.
Everything seems to break well before 100,000 miles.
Might be fine for garage queens that get driven once a year, but not sure I would want an SUV from them.

i hate when people use "practicality" against the 86. i'm 27, single, and no kids. i like to drive fast and have fun. the 86 is veerrrry practial for me. i honestly couldnt see myself driving another vechilce (well any other one that my finances allow)

honestly the cayenne is a little old. if the only thing holding you back is "you havent test drove it" dont let it. this car is extremely fun to drive. i can be in a bad mood or having a bad day. as soon as i take off, i instantly get a smile on my face. get the 86, no questions asked.

if your family is willing to fly you out, you're more then welcome to come test drive mine. after you do, i'll be willing to bet you forget all about the cayenne.
