Intermittent buzzing from below the steering wheel?

Hello!

I just recently bought my BRZ and am enjoying it a lot! Perfect in every way except one small issue I've been noticing. Sometimes and usually when going over 50 on the highway I hear a buzzing / vibration noise right below the steering wheel to the left right above my feet/lower legs.

I'm not sure what it is and only happens now and again. It doesn't sound like something loose is rattling...sounds more like something electronic? I'm not too sure. I've been trying to record the sound but to no avail.

Has anyone experienced this? I am driving a limited with push to start (if that would matter).

Thanks for the help / insight. I'd hate to have to take it to the dealer if it's something small that I could fix.

I have it too. Never bothered me enough to do anything about it.

I can't remember if I was or not. I'll see if I am the next time it happens.

I have this as well, along with a squeak when the wheel is all the way out. I'm going to get under there this coming weekend and pull everything apart and wrap with foam, see if that helps.

I would appreciate it if you let us know what you find out! I'm mad busy the next few weeks/ends so I won't have much time to do anything but drive the thing...woe is me.

Someone posted a pic recently of the housing around the steering wheel, particularly where the key goes in the column being not centered correctly, or falling out of place. Could that be the cause of your buzz?

After some careless driving on an empty road I lowered my ear down when I heard the noise and it sounds like its coming more from the door speaker. I'll be upgrading those puppies in a few weeks so we will see if that's the culprit. Slightly turning @ around 20 mph

Door speaker? I believe I have this same buzz and it's annoying. The buzz happens fairly consistently in sporadic/intermittent ~5 second buzzes. You can be going straight on the highway and it will still buzz, so the buzz doesn't seem to be induced by the steering wheel.

I'd love to see if anyone figured anything out on this.

Hmm... I haven't heard this yet. Perhaps a problem with earlier models?

I have a rattle/buzz that comes from what I believe is my headlight leveling control box. Basically there are cables that touch and cause the noise. It happens at random if it is not addressed... I have had it when on the highway and at idle. Some foam between the box and sidewall under the dash made it nice and tight and prevented any further noise. This is one of several rattles that my dealer could not replicate that I had to resolve.
