I forgot to post, weekend before last I had the full OEM Audio+ kit installed in the '23. Is it expensive for what it is? Yes, but I wanted full factory integration with correct harness ends, etc. Does it sound pretty damn good? Yes, it does. Installer said he'd like more sub, but I think it's more than enough, I'm not trying to rattle the trunk.

I also had them put some sound deadening under the rear seats and in the trunk. And had him put the stereo sub volume level underneath the HVAC controls as I didn't want it in the glove box, or two-sided tape underneath the the steering column or something.

What we did to our BRZ today was ... pay it off.

We put about half down and financed the rest, planning to pay it off quickly; but Carvana gave us so much for our 2007 Honda S2000 that the amount almost exactly matched the loan balance on the Subaru. So, one month after taking delivery, the BRZ is all ours.

Time to really commit and drop your insurance down to state minimum liability*, and turn off traction control. Come on, you're a good driver, aren't you?

*I pay less than $500/year to insure my T150 and the BRZ.

Yeah, but you are sharing the road with people who have no business sitting in the driver seat. This afternoon as I walked from my parking spot in the boondocks of the Costco lot, I watched a woman who was driving a 3/4 ton pickup seeing the world from under the top of the steering wheel. That is one hell of a blind spot she has and that is why I give those people a wide berth and have full insurance coverage.

Minimum liability?

That would be $15K property damage in my state. Too much risk for me. Have you seen the price of even an average car these days, much less a luxury vehicle? Hell, good luck buying a used car for $15K these days. Guess who is liable for the difference.

Better get good dashcams too, cause you may end up in a situation where it wasn't your fault, but there are no witnesses to corroborate your story and the other person claims it's your fault, and the insurance companies decide you both share liability..

And its not like people aren't sue happy..

They are called accidents for a reason, I've been driving nearly 40 years now, and have a clean record, but not willing to take that kind of risk in today's world..

lol.

self-insuring is cool, as long as you've got the money to cover it!

i played that game when i was younger, had less liabilities, and my car was cheaper. it can work. but the times it doesn't, it goes bad, really fast.
