30,000 mile service Toyota FRUSTRATION

I live in SoCal, and need to get my 30k service.
*This is going to be a rant*

WHY is it that every Toyota dealership that I call for pricing gives me a quote, and is unaware that the maintenance guide recommends that the brake fluid to be replaced?! I have called about six dealerships and NONE of them were aware, and told me that it will be about $150 on top of the price of normal 30k service (so avg about $350 to $400). I've asked them why this service isn't included in the baseline work for the 30k service, since it clearly says that. Every time I get an "oh yeah, sorry".

Am I the only one who has been through this? I guess this is one of the negatives of Toyota killing the scion brand.

If anyone else has a good dealership that they would recommend, with good prices, I welcome those.

p.s. I prefer getting this done at the dealership so that the documentation is on the carfax report for resale value

Yeah, well I figured if it's in the recommended maintenance then I should do it. Now i'm rethinking it!

I would recommend going to a performance shop instead and spending the extra money on some quality fluids, I was thinking of going to Evasive myself when i get back an get my fluids changed.

Is it really necessary though? Seeing that I use this car for my daily and have never raced it.

is your fluid dark brown? if so, change it. if your fluid is still a light tan, then it's fine for just driving around

you could just come to Mod Auto and we will change the fluids...

Also, don't bother with "to get on the carfax" thing. I've bought/sold a lot of cars, and I've NEVER had one issue where the person/dealer claim "oh well we don't know what service was done so we can't give you as much for the car".

Resale value on our cars wont be that good, just how it is. Especially here in Socal were there are 10 billion frs/brzs driving around.

I'd rather buy a car from an enthusiast who keep good records, rather than a dealer. Most (all? lol) dealerships are idiots. IMO haha.

Yeah, you're right, I don't trust dealerships that much either. One time a dealership left the oil cap off after an oil change. Ended up breaking down with a broken belt. How much does your place charge?
