IAM at 0.9 is acceptable but not good, on E85 you should be iam=1 as you should have no knock

I just filled up my 3rd tank of E85. During my 2nd tank, my LTFTs during idle and cruise are within +/- 5%, but my IAM=0

I don't hear or feel anything wrong with the way the car drives. Do I only check IAM during WOT or should it be at 1 the whole time?

Im pretty sure iam is not logging correctly if its zero, some leter model cars oft logging of some parameters does not work correctly

Iam should be one all the time, but i think its just monitoring incorrectly

you should see ignition advance at about 32 degrees at full throttle higher rpm if so your not pulling any timing and iam os actually 1..

Ok, I'll check on the IGN ADVANCE tonight when I drive home. I also noticed that I may be able to ADD or SUBTRACT the IAMs manually through the tablet itself? good or bad idea? lol!

yes you can add and remove monitoring\logged parameters on oft, not much point monitoring iam if it not logging correctly, tell the oft guys they may update oft software to fix.

Has your LTFT gotten any better? During my first tank @ 70mph, I was in the high -8% range. Now on my 3rd tank and I'm at -3.5% @ 3000rpm and +6% @2500rpm

@steve99
At wot on 2nd and 3rd gear, my ignition advance is right at 32 degrees and my AFR is around 12:1, but IAM is still at 0. I'm hoping it's a software issue. Nothing to worry about right? I'll give @shiv and his team a holler to see what they can do about an update..... Thanks again

Ok that advance and afr sound spot on for e85 tunes, the iam at 0 is definitly a bug in oft logging setup each rom calid has different ram addresses for logged parameters

if iam was actually O the advqnce would be much less and the car likey in limp home mode

If I picked up a 5w-20 e85 rated oil, would it be compatible for flip flopping between e85 and 91? E85 isn't widely available in my area.

@steve99 off topic question, but I'm thinking of mixing some E85 into our (crappy) 98ron fuel to achieve approx E10....question is, how many litres of E85 would do you need to fill in order to achieve this?

Currently running OFT350 tuned for 98 only, but adding some E85 would surely help in the summer months later on.

It's going to be less painful and much safer to tune the car properly than calculate and mess up a different mixture of E% every fill up and have the AFR skewed during the 100km or so it takes for the LTFT to catch up.

depends which E85 your using.

United E85 is actually 85% consistent and mixed with premium petrol

Caltex Eflex is minimum 70% but varies but mixed with low grade petrol.

For what you want United will be far better option.

To achieve aprox 10% E content in a full tank of 98 (assuming the 98 is ethanol free) you will need to add aprox 6 litres of united E85 to a full tank of 98 petrol (ie 50 litres)

calcs

united E85 is 85% ethanol so 6L of united E85 contains 6*0.85 litres of ethanol =5.1 litres of ethanol in the 6 litres of E85.

car holds aprox 50 litres so for 10% you need 5 l of ethanol added so aprox 6 litres of united E85 then fill tank with petrol.

generally your not going to be fully empty, even on low fuel light there is about 10L of fuel left. so if your at low fuel light of close you will only need about 5 litres of E85 then fill tank.

Been running OFT/E85 for about 5 months now and never had an issue until my last tank of gas. At about 1/2 tank I felt the car start to hesitate at throttle tip in and a dull popping sound a few times. It also felt like when i was WOT there was resistance like I was carrying 2 passengers or a feeling of drag.

Was thinking maybe it was just me but I drove it down to pretty much empty and filled up again and it felt like normal again right away and haven't felt any of the previous issues since.
