Once the spring is removed, these parts are completely unnecessary, which is why a lot of people (including myself) opt to just not re-install the parts without the spring.

Hope this helps!
Ah alright, thanks for the Info. I actually thought it connects the clutch to the car XD will take off everything tomorrow then

I've thought about doing this for years, and I'm still on the fence. I wish it was easier to reverse this mod. I just need to find someone who will let me drive their car I guess.

I did this last weekend. The clutch is still lighter than my VW GTI VR6. Who did they think would be driving these cars? Ten year old girls? It's has WAY more feel to it now. I also adjusted the engagement point of the clutch and it feels like a new car now. Thanks for all the great photos and how-to's in this thread!

I think you should just do it.

Based on having read every single post in this thread before finally doing it myself, I read nothing but glowing reviews, and maybe one or two that were "lukewarm" ie not bad but not glowing either.

I did it finally, and have not regretted it for a moment since, over 30k km later.

DOOOOO IT!!

I really don't understand why I would want a heavier clutch

I find it's not so much that it's heavier, but more-so that you can FEEL it now.

With the spring in, the grab point was vague. With it out, you can feel exactly where it is.

Hi friend. I'm a car newbie so I was wondering if you want to help me remove mine? I tried removing it a couple of days ago but I simply couldn't figure out how to remove the spring...then I gave up.

It's not that tough. Honestly the hardest part for me was prying the clevis off of the post that it was mounted to on the pedal. That took a LOT of force, and cost me some skin from my thumb.

Otherwise it should be pretty straight-forward. Remove the e-clip, push the pin through, then pry off the clevis and remove the spring.

I can try to help, as you're pretty close-by, but my schedule is packed for the next few days.

PM me if you want.

I'd appreciate that! Whenever you're available. I'll bring some brews.

Does removing the spring cause slack in the clutch pedal when not in use?

So I learned to drive manual on this car and I'm actually pretty smooth rowing the gears after putting 70k miles on the car. Would it be worth taking out the spring if I can already shift smoothly?
