Would this bracket work?

To get this correct..

Car wire - > Harness - > Head Unit - > Install Bracket - > mount screws

Thanks once again
Not sure about the bracket, one of the guys here with the universal ones can answer that. If you are getting the joying unit then you can order the harness on their site. https://www.carjoying.com/joying-harness/toyota
Should be the second harness listed on their site

Just a heads up for those buying this unit. In order to get a 5.1 update from the manufacturer you will either have to send the unit back in and they will install the required upgraded parts for you...or they will ship you a new motherboard and you have to send the old parts back.

So unless you are handy with a soldering iron you are screwed by joying. I am sure there will be ROMs that the xda community will come out with that will hopefully be 5.1 but make sure you know what you are doing and do so at your own risk.

Kind of read through a bunch of threads and it's still a bit confusing. I think the issue seems to stem from what motherboard is in the HU. They were attempting to apply lollipop update and the devices were being bricked (damaged board). Doesn't help that their English isn't the best lol. I think it applies to all units that came with KitKat. They are doing a hardware upgrade program with a refundable deposit/shipping cost. Hopefully we can get all this figured out. Thanks for the heads up @Ketchum88. Let's keep the thread updated with any new info or if anyone here sends their in for upgrade.

That sounds like a lot of work. I'm not an Android user, but what does 5.1 bring that would make me want to go through this trouble? Speed? Boot time?

Ugh, I was finally getting ready to pull the trigger on this. I guess I'll just wait until a Toyota version with Android 5.1 ships

I just ordered the universal 7" with the 5.1.1 android. I sent them an email about the harness and joying kindly offered to just replace the universal harness with the toyota harness so that I dont need to order it separate.

Yeah the staff at Joying are trying their best to back pedal because of negative customer feedback but honestly I feel like keeping the unit on 4.4.4 is totally functional. I preformed their latest update and the unit runs without hiccups. It is not like you are going to be using this unit to do any serious multitasking or gaming.

It's fine with 4.4.4 but if they are improving the internals, then it might be worth it.

So I've been gathering more info on whole 5.1 fiasco, from what I've seen on videos it doesn't seem to require any soldering. It appears to involve opening unit and unscrewing/unplugging coreboard. Trying to get a better understanding of what is required. I'll post up info once I've got solid step by step details.

**ok I watched video of them putting HU together and it's all plug and play. Also they have only released the upgrade for the 7" HU with physical buttons.

Ok so I sent out email and this is what they responded:
I'm so sorry. The jy-tq123 unit couldn't be updated for the android 5.1 now. I will tell you in time when it can be updated.*

The new board still has 1 GB RAM now,but we are researching the 2 GB RAM.

Have other questions, please feel free let me know.

Have a nice day.

Best regards,

Paul*

Yeah I figured the update was for the universal double din units. Best best it is to wait for the source code to be released or datamined by someone that is legit on xda and they will workout a rom for our units that will hopefully be stable.

In all honesty 4.4.4 is stable and provides us with everything we need in a head unit.
