Water pressure warning light
Did anyone install a water pressure warning system in their car.
We all know that if you blow a hose or loose a radiator car, by the time the water temp rise to alarming level, your engine will be toast. I found this cheap water pressure warning light system $20 from longacre: http://www.longacreracing.com/produc...34&prodid=7416 I was wondering if anybody has something similar. I have a @Mishimoto radiator and their website documentation is pretty weak, I don't know if the 1/8 NPT plug would fit on there.

I've never had a modern car rupture a radiator or coolant hose, but generally the massive amount of white smoke, coolant smell, etc. are enough of a warning to make having a water pressure gauge kind of unnecessary.

That light would come on after a problem, sort of redundant at that point.
Your looking for a gauge to show when something maybe about to happen, problem is what pressure is that? burst pressure of the hose? radiator? connection some place? Better off just running quality stuff and keeping an eye on it.

And guess what, even if your car over heats it will still be fine. Unless you keep running it for more than half a hour. Or you really want to blow it up.

Don't overheat your car. Coolant system pressure is not a concern you could have. TEMPERATURE on the other hand........ Yeah, you already have a gauge and a light for that.

The water temp gauge is good enough.

Why the hell are you worried about overheating anyways. You can run a 30min track session no problem without over heating your coolant. Your oil temp is a bigger issue, just my $0.02 Canadian so it isn't worth all the much vs your American money

Water pressure sensors are common on Corvettes. They run a bit hotter, but the utility is still there. If you lose a water pump, it'll show up in a pressure warning before the temperatures spike. In theory it might detect cavitation at high RPM.
Uncommon but not a "foolish" sensor to have. |
