After listening to this a few times I'm going to make an armchair troubleshooting call of a bent valve. How in the world it fades when driving is beyond me.

I mean if you don't have an issue with your current FRS, I'd just leave it alone and keep it.

Unless you got money to blow...that's a different question.

It's not a bent valve, So i got word from the dealer that it was from excess silicone that got into the oil. (I had a leak coming from timing cover and cam cover.) I guess the "technician" put too much silicone on the cover which led to excess silicone getting into the oil, clogged an oil line/ oil passage and deprived oil from the left head. Results were scorched cams.. They said they were either going to replace a rocker arm or a new motor, but I do not want their work on this same motor. I paid for a new car hoping for no problems, and whenever i brought the car back, i've always had issues with the car after their "Work". I've taken my car back there 6+ times and I want the new motor. The question now is; do I trust them installing that motor? No.. hopefully i can try to get a new car lol

Let Toyota know of your concerns with the dealer & their shoddy work, that may have a positive influence on them to do it properly or you could go elsewhere.

Makes perfect sense, and this is actually quite a relief that it's not a defect or something prone to repeat in other people's vehicles. A lot to VW turbo owners who used conventional oil had similar clog issues, but it was little white pieces of coked oil that would float around and eventually clog an oil passage.
I've also read on this forum about other "oil starvation" issues. When I owned a Porsche 944, some people had this happen during hard G cornering at autocross events, where the oil would slosh to one side and the pump couldn't pick up enough to keep the flow going. The simple solution was to make sure your oil level was either full, or slightly above full, and that would ensure it didn't happen.
I guess we are all still learning about this new engine, trying to figure things out. I'm hoping to get hundreds of thousands of miles out of mine, so I hope there are no inherent design flaws.

Experiencing a similar sound.

Skimmed the thread...guess it could be the vacuum pump, rocker arm or contaminated oil. Sigh. Just bought the car used and warranty hasn't transferred yet, so hopefully it's not something that needs immediate attention.

I don't hear anything unusual there.

Since so many people are starting to have this issue how can we get Scion/Toyota's attention, I had the same issue with my car, on my way to the dealers my car broke down all the oil left the engine. The dealership said they saw that the oil filter was too loose and that was the cause of the engine malfunction, I told them there was a rattling/Knocking sound the day before and I was bringing it up to you guys to take a look. I asked them for the engine codes but they didn't pull them they said they saw the oil filter loose so they didn't investigate any further. They said it won't be covered under my warranty.

What is "This Issue" you refer to? Loose oil filters?

The knocking sound that I had the night before and on my way to the dealers. It is similar to this noise.
