Can't get OBD2 Bluetooth adapter to work for the life of me. Tried with my previous adapter and then purchased one recommended here from Amazon.I even tried a USB one I had lying around. Torque tells me it can connect to adapter but adapter can't talk to Ecu. I've tried on Android head unit and on my phone actually with same results.
Used to work with previous adapter phone but stooped at some point. I have Open Flash Tablet and just flashed Stage 1 tune again to make sure there's nothing wrong with the port. Any ideas? How can I tell if if there is problem with port? Using tiny blue Bluetooth dongle from Amazon. Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk |

Exact same issue I'm having. If it was pin length then why is the adapter getting power but no signal from the ECU?

EcuTek plug works, other scanners work. Just the dongle won't connect

Looks like it is caused by the Torque application trying to discover the protocol expected by the ECU using a scan, and this scan causing the ECU to bork. If you go into the profile you set up for your vehicle and scroll to the bottom, there is a drop down menu where you can set the "Preferred OBD2 Protocol." See the attached picture. In my case--and I'd expect it to be the same for all BRZs--it was ISO15765-4 CAN (11 bit, 500k baud). While connected to the adapter you can go to the "Adapter Status" button on the home screen and you can confirm the setting there. I don't think it would vary based on adapter, but check your car to be sure. After changing this setting I haven't had a reoccurrence in a couple days of testing. I'd be interested in hearing if this works for others and if the settings are identical on an FR-S. |

OFFICIAL Torque Android app PID/Misc Thread
OBD2 ports use a standard, if the adapter you are using doesn't fit, don't modify it. You can literally fry your ECU by causing a short. Some OBD2 adapters are just subpar and have connectivity issues. It could be as simple as shoddy soldering of components. I would say it's never worth a $1800 ECU to use a $9 obd2/elm adapter.
