My 2012 WRB WRX Limited

So I've been lurking for quite a bit here and decided i'd speak up and come out of my lurk phase to describe how much I couldn't wait for my SWP BRZ Limited. Well as many are aware, the wait times and unknown ETA's thats been plaguing the second and third waves of BRZs to come to port has been making us all feel like

I started doing my research and I was eyeballing an AT SSM BRZ Limited that was down the street. They were asking for a markup but they promised sticker price by Wednesday. I had a gut feeling they were just trying to see how long they could have it on the floor for until someone decides to buy it at a marked up price but I don't think anyone will bite, and neither would I.

So my logic was if this car came around October-November ish I wouldn't be able to wait that long. It sound childish I know, I think for a car many of us have been waiting years for we could wait. However, Mid-atlantic weather can be pretty crazy. The worst thing to do is wait all this time only to be able to drive the car for a month and shelf it.

I was lucky to have come to the dealership in person over the past weekend. The folks there at my local shop are really great guys and understanding. I also noticed something out of the corner of my eye. 2012 World Rally Blue WRX. I didn't even ask questions but they already knew I had a thing for the REX and scoops and turbos and....

This brings me to today. I decided to call my dealership and I spoke with my sales manager. They were trying to get a VIN and date for my own vehicle because they felt bad they were being left in the dark (and potentially lose a customer). I told them with an unknown ETA and being stuck in "waitlisted" for the next cycle of vehicles it was pretty obvious it would be a few months before this thing got here. They were completely understanding and I told them I wanted to back out of the pre-order The sales manager was very understanding and said he didn't mind due to the fact they had such a long list of people waiting to jump ship onto pre-order slots (one lucky son will get mine #6/7 at Brown's Subaru). I had a non-refundable deposit but I gave them an options, I asked them to see if they would transfer it to the WRX. The guy said absolutely and 30 minutes later my eyes are glued to the car.

I didn't even know it was a limited trim until I got in, but it had all the bells and whistles. Pretty much allll the features on the BRZ that I had wanted (minus the push to start.. oh well can't win them all). They also had equipped it with a sport catback which when I started the car the engine roared with that lovely boxer gurgle. The rest is pretty much history (If you made it this far down my novel, then kudos to you as well!) Yes I ended up paying a bit more than the BRZ limited, but to be honest, my friend put it this way. Buy the car you wanted, not the one you are settling for or else you'll spend the entire time regretting the decision. This is a car I find myself talking about way more than the BRZ and i've always wanted one since I sat in my friends 2.5 silver RS back in High School. With the crazy Mid-atlantic sporadic weather it's one of the few cars I think I can truly enjoy all season round.

Don't get me wrong I'm still rootin for everyone who has a BRZ and will plan on getting one. It is a fantastic and beautiful car. But to me, I realized that the BRZ really wasn't the car I was looking for and I couldn't be happier with my change of plans.

I'm sorry i'll finish the novel and deliver some (big) pics!

This was almost my exact situation!

I ended up with a 2012 SWP WRX Premium. I wanted a base model but there weren't any around anywhere.

Even though I'm still a fan of the BRZ, my first choice was the WRX.

Two years ago I was going to get a 2011 WRX used. The BRZ was announced to come out and I was certain I was getting one...but (at the time) I would have stretched my budget.

Fast forward a little more (after the BRZ pre order phase) and my wife gets a new job. Plus she also wanted to start a family!

Long story short, much like you I didn't want to wait or pay a markup, and had been eying the WRX to begin with (and could now afford it).

Needless to say I have an extensive mod list growing in my head.
Nameless axle back *cough* Cobb AP *cough*...

The BRZ still holds a place in my heart, so maybe in a few years when our kids are grown and the BRZ comes with a 2.5l 8000rpm 250hp engine...
