Delivered - Number 1 UK BRZ

And Subaru even sent a photographer:happy0180:

My full write-up shortly....................

Had planned a drive but my Bank's fraud team were a little too keen and my debit card transaction took 45 minutes

Congrats!

i'll be ringing my bank this time in advance to tell them its being emptied!.. ive had that before as well.. its a bit embarrassing I find ..me to sales person.. “I have the money.. honest” .
Then have to ring the bank and answer a load of security questions i can never remember the bleedin answers too!.."when did you last use your card; tell me about a direct debit, how much and when..." errrrrr....

Drove the car for 5 hours today; A roads, motorways and the odd country lane.

I love it and I've no regrets

Cabin; I'm a big fan of the vertical dash fascia and wheel position, which feels very racer. Loads of visibility. Low seating/driving position is perfect, as are the seats even for my wider (but not porky) frame. Shit radio in my SE spec and no bt phone, otherwise it has what you need. Quite noisy and passing vehicles audible more than I recall from other cars I have owned.

Transmission; peerless gearchange with nice, short shift. Easy to move thru the gears confidently and the stick is positioned relatively high in the cabin vs the seat, giving more racer feel.

Power and performance; my concerns were unfounded. Even in 6th, motorway and A road overtakes were easily achieved. Builds speed effectively and enough power to make rapid progress. All this with 4k rpm max!! But I did end up talking about superchargers at Litchfield. Engine noise is not whooshy or turbine like, but it suits the car and I like it. Easy cruise on the motorway with acceptable noise, the the urge you want when needed. Could handle more power but has enough at the mo!

Suspension / handling. This car is really planted and you really notice the lack of weight; it does't lean or wallow at all. Totally flat, even when taking roundabouts aggressively and great traction coming out. Damping is fine. Exceeded my expectations and and top feature of the car

Foolishly I stopped at a garage in the country and got talking to the boss.....

took to the country roads of Suffolk today. Soooo much speed thru the twisties and Lotus guys showing much interest.

200bhp feels fine

parked next to an Audi TT which consequently looked huge next to the Z

Love this car and I stuck the gold Ring sticker on too.

What are the speakers like? ( i assume the speakers are all alike, just different headunits)
The new Toyota brochure i picked up this weekend from my garage has upgraded speaker package (9 JBL speakers)
its a dealer fit option apparently.. price not confirmed but they said about 500 possibly.
it has a sub as well (in the boot floor somehow).. pic of it but hard to tell where, but its flush is all that matters.
so i assume 8 speakers and a sub is the 9.. there are 6 as standard arent there? not sure how it'll work but its not a factory order jobby so should be simple swap in.
> may be worth a look there if there are no subaru options, though i guess this will be offered as well (at some point if not yet).

It looks like there are 4 in the front and 4 in the back. front doors and dash. read side walls and parcel shelf...

JBL sound system includes a 440Watt DSP amplifier. Maybe thats just for the sub but considering its over 1000 euros I would hope it has a separate power amp for all speakers.

Dual range speakers by the A pillars, front door speakers and then 2 small ones at the sides of the rear compartment. Not a lot of sound from behind imho.

Suspect the speakers are better than the Boggo SE spec radio, which must go; was thinking about Pioneer App radio to compliment my Iphone 4s.

Could place additional speakers on the parcel shelf, although the isofix anchorages might get in the way.

( Note keyless go and auto air on euro base spec BRZ)
