Wheel Directory: Avid.1 AV-06 18x9.5 +38

Figured I would make a thread about the wheels I decided on going with because no such thread existed.

I decided on going with the Avid.1 AV-06 (TE37 Reps) in Hyper Black 18x9.5 +38 offset square setup. I threw on a set of Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 tires sized at 245/35/18.

I believe this is a design of the wheel and not my tire choice but the lip of the wheel does extend past the tire so be prepared to get paint chips from hitting pretty much anything on the roadway given the fact that these are cheap low pressure cast wheels. (~$600 range wheels)

These are heavy wheels ~24 lbs...if you plan on hitting the track on a daily basis with your 86 then these are not the wheels for you.

No rubbing issues up front or in the rear and wheels can turn to full lock with no problem at stock ride height. I do believe that you will have to go on coils in order to lower the car and be able to clear up front however.

Thanks! Looks good!
More pics please. Profile, up front to see poke, and to see the tire fitment.

Haha Avatar is from the day I bought the car...don't think I will change it. You can check my garage for updated pics as I add to her.

As for the wheels I am pleased with them but if you do go with a 18x9.5 square setup you need to really do your research about how to lower the vehicle while avoiding issues rubbing up front. This is what I am running into at the moment.

Did you just slap on the wheels ? are you on stock springs and etc?

I'm interested in getting wheels 18x8 and doing 245/40 all around. but i was told i should do coilovers first before i buy wheels?

All depends on the offset, going 18x8 will give you some play room and if you do have an issue rubbing up front you can always throw a 3-5mm spacer on there to give you extra clearance.

I was looking into these same wheels but in 17x8. But I can't find the weight anywhere. I did find one spot where it said 21 lbs but I kinda want to know if that weight is true. Hopefully somebody can help me out.

sounds about right, most reps are in the 19-21 pound range for 17 inch wheels.

I found a guy on CL that's selling them(17") to me tomorrow for $450. The Bolt pattern is 5x114.3 though,so I have to get converters. Anyone else have to use lug converters and could you tell me how much that effects the offset?

I figured for the price that I'm getting them for,and I can get the converters from Amazon for about $100,it's worth it.

I am not a wheel guy but they will push the wheel out ~20mm is my guess depending on how thick the adapters are

Every set is different. They should list the size. Project kics has the thinnest ones at 11mm.

Just to make things clear. If you lower it you would have some rubbing issues if understand this correctly? lol. What coils are you running?
