Warranty questions

Hey guys, new (used) BRZ owner here. Come spring time, I'll be thinking about new headers and a tune. I'm not really looking for more power (the car is fun enough without it), but the torque loss ~4k RPM does bother me and it is noticeable. My local shop recommended a header + a tune to get past it.

My question on the tune is this. I'm not looking for power, really, just getting past the current torque problems. I also have an extended warranty on my car from the dealer (the subaru powertrain warranty expires at 36k and I'm almost at 35k) through 75k miles.

As this car was previously used, I wanted to make sure I had some protection in case it was previously abused. Doubtful, as the owner obviously babied it, but you never know.

So my questions I guess are these:
1. Can I tune the car, flash back when I need to take it into the dealer for service and avoid warranty violations? Can this be detected? Are there different ways of making sure that my car stays on the straight and narrow? How does this work?
2. I would assume there are tunes that increase performance without necessarily adding additional stress to the engine. Again, I'm not looking for more power, just to fix the torque issue with the stock tune.
3. Would openflash work for this? As I'm not going to heavily mod the car, nor am I looking for an aggressive custom tune, does this make sense? Obviously saving a dollar or two is appreciated.

Thans,

yes, slapping on headers and tuning it will void your warranty. however, with OFT, it is easy to flash back and so far i haven't heard of many issues when having to flash back to stock for warranty work. the real pain comes with having to swap back to stock headers when doing that. It's not hard at all but is just a huge pain in the ass. it sounds like headers and a tune will do just what you are looking for.

Pretty well yes to all your questions

read the OFT TIPS link below abd basic bolt on mods guide.

If youconcerned about warantee then always flash back stock tune ajd put stock header back on if you have any engine issues before to return car to dealer.

Thanks for the responses, folks! Yeah, replacing the header with stock will be a pain, but doable. I'm more concerned with the dealer being able to see that I've flashed back to the stock tuning. How hard is it for them to realize that I flashed back vs having been there the whole time?

Thanks,

It's same stock tune as it was, byte for byte, once you reflash back. Only thing that increases is flash counter. Never heard of dealership checking it.
