Yep, now watch the price go up and everyone complain about how expensive our little entry level sports car has become and how you might as well buy xbrand car now because this cost too much.
The car was built to be at a certain price point and to modded to what you want to make it, they said this from the start.

Honestly the only way I would buy this car if the price dropped and/or there was a significant upgrade and stayed the same price or went lower.

I doubt that design will remain a classic. Ours on the other hand...

I love how people freak out when they see a patent assuming it's a green light for production. It is not. Hundreds of thousands of patents are filed and approved for products that never see fruition. The point of a patent is to simply protect the intellectual property; in this case, that patent was created so that Subaru could protect the rights for the design of their concept car so that it isn't stolen, misused by third parties, etc. It is by no means ANY indication that they're making it an official product, it just to protect what was already built.

Would you consider it if it came with an off-center front license plate??

No. I'd literally never buy a car with one.

I didn't know you could patent a car...car's are not a new invention. Parts of a car, yes, but a whole car? Copyright, I can see, even trademarks, but a patent?

...then again, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich has a patent. (more on how its made without crust, than the idea of a sandwich). atent No. 6,004,596

They are not patenting the car per se but the design and body style. It just protects their intellectual property and does not mean much more. This is popping up on most of the auto clickbaits since there is no real news to talk about at this time of year.

I still don't see anything patent able about the style of a car, unless laws are different in Japan. It would seem to fall under copyright law, as I understand it.
