baking open winjet headlights

Today I attempted to bake open my winjet headlights and was not successful. I let them cook for 10 minutes at 200 degrees and after an hour of prying with a screwdriver I have only managed to loosen one side of the lamp with the other side still securely attached. The adhesive on these lamps does not seem to get looser with heat.

Can anyone help me out? Is there some special tool that I could get to make this easier? I am worried I will damage my headlights as the black plastic of the mating surface is already warping and there are a few small (fixable) hairline cracks in the base of the lens where it mates with the back of the lamp. Nothing you will ever see when the headlight is installed, but I do not want to cause significant damage and have to replace a headlight.

I do not want to cause any further damage and I do not know of a shop locally that will do this job for me. Would anyone here be able/willing to open these headlights or give me some serious tips on how to do it myself?

Just opened mine today. I would use a heat gun versus an oven. The sealant winjet uses does not have a sticky bond to the black plastic halves, so a little heat is all that is need to get them seperated.

1. Remove the 6 screws per headlight.

2. Use a heat gun and concentrate near the skinny end or tip of the "beak". Heat the mating line where the clear meets the black. Keep moving and heat the tip of the beak and 6 inches on each side of it. Only takes about 30-45 seconds of this.

3. Use a wide slotted screwdriver and carefully pry the beak open. You may only a 1/16" to 1/8" gap at the tip at first. Don't force it.

4. Repeat step 2 and 3. The prying should be now be done with your fingers instead of the screw driver

5. Once you have a decent gap near the beak, heat further down the seam on both sides with the heat gun in the same manner.

6. Pry little by little. It should start to pry fairly easily after awhile.

7. Pry head light completely open. There is a clip at at the opposite end of the head light that may need a screw driver pry.

Other than that you should be set.
