Properly using OEM touch up paint?

Basically, I have a BRZ WRB and my bumper and lower end hood is trash due to road rash and many interstate commute. I bought touch up paint from the subaru dealer and when i try to apply it, the paint looks to be a different color (much darker), not sure why.... (the color code on touch up paint matches the car information however)

Im wondering if there is proper way to apply the touch up paint..like do i need to apply the paint and then buff the area with some sort of machine buffer?

Im planing to apply the touch up paint after the winter is over since my bumper is going to just get worse during winter.

Did they provide you with two canisters - basecoat and topcoat? Mine looks like this:

^ What clipdat mentioned.

Gotta get the base coat then apply with clear coat afterward.

Use a toothpick to apply the paint instead of the supplied brush or ballpoint pen. And perhaps do it in layers, allowing it to dry in between. Using a hair dryer in swirly motions on lowest heat setting helps speed things up.

Repeat with clear coat.

I'd suggest you go back to the dealer and get "the other half" of the set. Maybe they forgot to give it to you ....... or they just didn't know any better.

Then I'd suggest you find a small hidden painted part of your car, rub the wax off with alcohol and dab a bit of paint on. Let dry, then check for color match.

You forgot the "Make your favorite alcoholic drink." advice that you always give.

I am disappointed.

The new color code touchup paint thingy is 2 in 1. Just so you know. "It should says 2 in 1 on the top... xD" Atleast that's how it is for my K1X crystal white.
