test drive and quick review
So I finally got to test drive an 86 today at lunch. It was a Black GTS. Big shout out to Luke at Scifleet Albion. He went out of his way to bring it around to me at work.
I jumped in and adjusted the seat, adjusted the mirrors and drove off. Didn’t give it much throttle to begin with, it gets busy near work and I could get in trouble for being a hoon :P When i did get up it a bit i was in a gear higher than i needed to be and, as you would expect, it was slightly sluggish down low, but once it picked up a bit of speed it was responsive and seemed sufficient. The first few mins was basically traffic driving though. A v8 ford ute did try to race us though.... I then turned off the main road into some pleasantly twisty and tight backstreets. Here I got to give it a little bit of beans and test some handle. The handle is direct and sharp. It went where I told it. Very happy with that! And it had plenty of power for the tight twisty road. Responsive and quick. It even tried to get a bit taily but traction control said no :P Went around affair bit of tight, twisty roads where i didn’t get out of 2nd gear, and had a ball. Finally got on a longer straight and nailed it from take of. Red line in and 1st and 2nd, and it certainly wasn’t slow! The motor sounds very angry up high, lots of lovely mechanical noise, and I loved the notchy gear box. No need for these aftermarket bushes to change that!! Didn’t really play with the stereo or anything, and didn’t get a chance to turn the traction control off, but overall, I LOVED it! Again, a big thanks to Luke at Scifleet for his help

No worries. Traction control LOL :-P but seriously, not really dude. Clutch is a little light but not the end of the world.
