No License Plate?

Is anybody in New Jersey planning on not putting a license plate on the front?
I don't have my permanent plates yet but I am planning on not putting one on. Anyone else thinking this?

It is illegal to drive without a front LP in NJ, but the car looks so much better without it. Im thinking of taking it off and seeing how long I can go before they catch me?

Yeah it's Illegal in New Jersey and its a $50 fine! But my cousin has had a G37 for the past 6 years and has gotten a ticket twice for no FP. I think the car looks so much better and i thought the top bolts actually went into the bumper but theres just brackets into the front grille. My only thing is should i sacrifice looks to follow the law or just say screw it.

eh it's really not worth it as it's fairly easy to spot a car that doesn't have front plates.

Technically it's not legal in a lot of states but most cops could care less unless you're doing something else and they feel like tacking on some extras. I'm in Ohio and have been driving since 93. I've never had a front plate on any of the 15 or so vehicles I've had over the years and have never been pulled over or fined for it.

I'd get one of those sweet motorized retracting plates if I didn't live in Canada; I have a feeling the snow would deal to that pretty damn quick, especially on such a low car.

Not exactly. It's hard to detect, but your license plate numbers can be pulled up with your VIN, if they've already been issued. I got a parking citation/warning at a community I lived in several years ago, since I got warned for not having moved my car, and they even wrote the plate numbers on it.

Interesting, how long have you had your car/license assigned to you though?

I don't have my plates yet but when I get them I think I'll do what I did with my Mini Cooper... I just used rubber bands to hold it to my visor and put the visor down when I wanted to. Our law in Maine states that the plate must be ahead of the driver. Doesn't say it has to be on the front bumper.

A couple years ago there was a temporary detour from the highway to a secondary road and the local yokels were just nailing people left and right to boost revenue.

I got pulled over, I knew I wasn't speeding and we all had our seat belts on so as the cop was coming around the side of the vehicle I put down the visor. He asked why I was running without a front plate. I then pointed to my visor. :-)

He was a little dumbfounded that he hadn't seen it... hahaha.
