GT with Touchscreen?

Anyone on here ordered a GT with the GTS touchscreen? I remember reading somewhere on here it was an option for about a grand extra but the dealer I was talking to didn't seem to have an official options list.

I'm getting a GT with the GTS touchscreen.

There's nothing wrong with head unit in the GT, but it could've been in a car of 10 years ago.

Given most new cars have a touch screen and I want to keep this car for a long time, I figured it was best to get this feature in the car to keep it up to date for as long as possible.

I think it was also brighten up what can be a very dark looking dash in the GT.

Aftermarket would be much much better value, but given 99% of cars feature fully integrated audio units these days I felt sticking with the Toyota factory unit was going to make the car look and feel better.

Except for this car, which has no integration at all.

I hope it can. The one in my 8 (lux model/climate control) is tied in to the climate control, so to get it out yo have to put in a little logic board so you don't loose ac.. It's not fun really

There is no integration with the rest of the car. It's a stand alone double din headunit.

The slot seems to be wider than 2DIN so will need some trim to fill up the gaps on both sides.

This is true. You can just use the current toyota double din kits though.

I'm looking at a Pioneer option - really interested in the Advanced App Mode.

This model in Australia - AVHP8450BT

but I actually have no need for a DVD player/CD player and all that stuff.
So I'm also thinking about importing an APPRADIO 2 from the US. It appears to have been vastly improved over the original APPRADIO.

Anyone got any feedback on importing a unit like this - would it still work ok in Aussie cars?
