E-85 tune, does it require a new fuel pump?

Hey guys, tomorrow i'm going to go get my E-85 tune. The tuner suggested that I get a new fuel pump. Is this a good idea?

No need unless your car is boosted and requires larger port injectors.

Many of us have been running E85 on the factory fuel system for a long time!

Very vague question without giving some more info on your car and the mods you have

As others have said, you're fine to run E85 with the stock fuel pump if you're NA. However, if you've got some sort of FI, then you might need to consider a fuel pump and injectors.

Boosted or NA? I don't believe in solving problems that you don't yet know exist, especially when you can introduce new ones along the way. I'm (lightly) boosted running 7PSI on E85 and I can still peg the AFR (lambda) down to 11.0 at WOT. Entirely stock fueling system.

I'd ask your tuner why he thinks you need a new fuel pump. Seems like a rather blind assumption unless you're going for big power right off the bat.

How much of a difference is running an E85/Flex fuel kit. Exactly what soft of gains are we looking at?

have a read of the Basic bolt on mods guide below.

you can get about 20 hp gain on a stock car with E85 and dedicated E85 tune.

Flex fuel kit/tune does give more power its just allows you to switch seamlessly between E85 and petrol or any mix in between.

dedicated E85 or petrol tunes you need to run tank down then fill with other fuel and re-flash ecu were talking naturally aspirated here. Boosted is different story

So - I am on E85 flex/AVO. I only changed the injectors to FIC880s. No pump. At 10.5PSI boost on E85, I get 350WHP. When I ran 92 at 12PSI boost - I was getting around 283WHP.
Two things you don't need to get this HP - a new fuel pump or a full 3" exhaust. 2.5" up front is fine.
