Halp! Supercharger extremely loud
Hi guys. I have a JRSC. Of late, it has been becoming noiser than usual. Today, it has been ridiculously loud at idle, so much so that when I popped the hood, after 1 minute because the sound was so high pitched I'm pretty sure I temporarily did some ear damage lol.
The SC oil level while running is fine. I contacted JR and then said check the air filter, which also looks fine. Any ideas before I have to send my supercharger back to get inspected, thus requiring me to get a rental car? I took the car to AZP installs just for a second pair of ears and he also said it was the supercharger -- i.e. not the belt or idle pulley |

P.S. I also have a check engine light and the traction control thing goes on from time to time (limp mode) but when I checked the code I believe it relates to me not having a catted header. don't think its related

Maybe you should try the owners thread instead of starting a whole new one... you'll at least be asking the right people.

It's impossible. The JRSC is gods gift to the FT86 chassis.

Sucks that you have to get a rental car.....KW kits don't require a rental car when something goes wrong.

I've seen them occasionally go bad, and every unit I've seen in that manner has been warrantied by Jackson Racing. Rotrex's QC is good, but nobody is perfect, and that's why the warranty is in place. Bad/incorrect priming can cause this, but if you put 4000 miles on it, I doubt that's the case. |

I put ~8000 miles on mine and it started to whine like crazy too. I contacted Jackson Racing and shipped my supercharger to them so they could send it out to Rotrex for a warranty inspection. They covered my supercharger under warranty, and Jackson Racing is sending a new unit my way today.
