Spicy foods
How many people here are fans of spicy foods? What has been your most painful and/or funniest story?
I grow these in our yard ![]() For you that don't know what this is... It's a ghost pepper.

Hot in, hot out, brother.
I try to gauge how hot people like to go by asking them which Taco Bell hot sauce they think is too spicy. If they answer with any of them, I know I'll have to take it easy on them. |

I grew up on spicy (my Dad used to make sausage that would cook itself in a pan), so yes, love it.
I prefer things that add heat but don't add a lot of "flavor". For example I don't care for habanero peppers because they have an "odd" taste to me.

I think for me if the spice level increases so much that I can't taste any other flavors, then it's too spicy.
I once ordered Thai food and got 7 peppers (compared to the highest 3 which is advertised on the menu)...literally it was like getting red chili pepper flakes with a SIDE of chicken. Needless to say, I had the worst F**king day afterwards. I will never do it again.

I agree with you on the habanero, something just tastes off with them. I've never eaten a ghost pepper but love spicy foods. Guess It's time to order a pack of em.

I like a decent amount of spiciness, but this post is more about a story than what I like.
I went to Gatlinburg Tennessee with some friends a few months ago, and we stopped in a shop that made specialty dips from Apple Butter to Salsa. I tried most of the dips before I got the some salsa. The test plate had a warning sign letting parents know not to let their children try this salsa, so I wanted to see how hot it was. Without looking at the label or what peppers it contained, I got some good chunks, not just juice, on my chip and ate it. I started to feel the burn immediately, so I took a look at the label. Turns out, the salsa was made from Carolina Reapers, which is the hottest pepper in the world. I turned down buying a yoohoo to help with the burning, and I suffered for the next 20 or so minutes. I was tearing up constantly. I couldn't talk right since my throat had magma in it. I had a constant ringing sound in my ears. It was an experience I will never forget, and will hopefully never have to live through again. |

I love spicy food, the hotter the better. You hand me a pepper and I'll eat it no questions asked. My favorite has definitely got to be maximum heat Indian food, I'd eat that every day if my body could handle the abuse.
The only problem is, just this year, I've started getting heartburn after incredibly spicy meals, getting older sucks a bag of d!cks. FML.
