Code P0462

Possible Causes:
1. Faulty Fuel Level Sensor
2. Fuel Level Sensor Harness is open or shorted
3. Fuel Level Sensor Circuit poor electrical connection

This thread is more so pointed toward any of you who have experienced getting this code, and actually had to take action on it because the code kept coming back. I'm interested to hear what steps you guys took, and in what order, to resolve the problem.

Today is Saturday, sometime around Tuesday I filled up my tank(91 octane), from a pretty low empty tank. I noticed the CEL, checked the code with my OFT, saw the P0462, erased it and went on with life. The next morning, cold start, I start the car and notice the code again. This morning, cold start, before heading into work, I notice the code again.

Starting to feel I might need to start looking at what needs to be replaced, and it's pretty annoying when I erase the code with my tablet, turn off, turn back on, and my car gets that "dead gas pedal", weak RPM, roll to a stop, go into neutral and the car turns off sensation. Those symptoms of having wiped a code and re-setting the ECU.

Any help is appreciated,

Thanks in advance.

Shaun

From what it states, the issue is the signal from the cluster to the ECU is the problem. Could be an issue with either the cluster or sending unit. is it out of warranty?

99% sure I'm out of warranty I will call tomorrow and double check.

When you say "sending unit" can you show me a link with a picture of what it looks like or part number so I have it for reference if it ends up needing to be replaced and I can anticipate what I have to buy.

Based on the code, its an issue between the gauge cluster and the ECU. But it can be the sending unit, which is in the fuel tank, you will need to test to verify.

Techstream will be the only 100% way to find out which it is exactly?

I work at a Lexus dealership and I guess if I need to pay the employee rate to have a tech diagnose for me I will do so.
